I have had a look but I cant see a thing

It is usually on the LH side of the radiator support panel.

XT won't have a compliance plate, just a Ford ID plate. Those plates weren't compulsory till about 70/71.

id plate is found on the drivers side upper radiator support. about 10 inches away from the bonnet latch in the centre. usually u can see 2 x 1/8 holes 3" apart.
