6x Seagate Cheetah 15.5K 300GB SAS disks - $400ea. Only had 6 months use.
They're good for 100-125MB/sec sustained and 3.5ms avg seek - they're basically the 2nd quickest SAS disk on the market.

Cheers, Tim Hi Tim, No SAS disks are Serial Attached SCSI drives - SAS drives still use platters and have internal moving mechanical components - this was the difference in SSDs (Solid State Disk) which utilise flash memory similiar to the USB Thumb drives etc - these would have been installed in a Server likely in a RAID array - awesome set of drives if you plan to run em in a server or to speed up disk throughput on your workstation if youre pretty serious... Note: Im pretty sure though if you do wish to purchase one of these killer drives you would need to ensure your hardware is compatible - most new servers now come with SAS/SAS RAID controllers builtin - otherwise you would need to look at getting one. So if serious I/O performance is what you want out of your desktop/server then these are the go Cheers Kev

I think it may have something to do with his rator sata raid array being better.

Hi,
They're not solid state - I'd be worried about a 15000rpm solid state drive They are indeed 3.5". They are out of a Dell MD1000, ex-display system. I'm keeping 4 for myself. Theyre twice as fast as the Raptors

6 drives, 6 free ports on my RAID card. Shame they're so expensive.
