Thinking of putting my EL 6cyl on LPG. So far had a few quotes:
Workshop 1: OMVL $2900 Impco $3100 One man show, requires car for 3-4 days. Made a point of explaining he uses higher quality fittings than most people and dyno tunes the car. Comes well recommended by a friend who is into cars. Workshop 2: Landi $2400 Require car for one day, includes hire car. Not sure if they use a dyno or not. Have a few friends who have had systems fitted by these guys without any complaints but they generally dont know anything about cars. Are the OMVL and Impco systems worth the money over Landi? |

Impco is simple to install/set up, simple to tune and is reasonably economical to run,
All those prices are insane, but thats how it is since the rebate system. Impco System all parts including tank $1200 tops, Days work absolute max to install, good money for a days work.Probably only want to keep the car for a couple of days so it looks like you are getting what you paid for. Straight gas should be cheaper to install, less problems tuning/running, For that amount of money you should get quality, but don't hold your breath. |

I am looking at doing this also on my EL fairmont.
Should I go just gas, or go dual fuel? Its just a tow car and a daily but gets driven around town alot and eats fuel. |

I think impco is the way to go as there a simple setup and everyone uses them. I looked into it and found for the long run the impco is the way to go as replacement parts are cheaper and impco last very long.

Impco are american converters (one of the most established) while the landi converters are from Italy. They're both reliable, well built units.
Mga and ovml are the more recent converters to hit the market. From what i've seen, they seem stable. There design looks more prone to failure but that hasnt been the case so far. In the cab's they usually fit the landi units or impco's b/c both can take a beating and keep going. I put a landi converter in about 2-3 yrs ago and it's never missed a beat!!!! Hope this helps |
