Hi
I am looking at supercharging my 4.0 1994 EF auto 2278424 ks I have looked at 2 superchargers 300 kw Vortech & Raptor 9psi in the Pro Street kit. What modifications can I expect to make & what pit falls to look out for or is there an alternative to going down the supercharged road ? my EF also has Tickford badges & breathing snorkel & King springs but I've read where Tickford didn't get involved till the1995 model?

for starters its an EF.
not an EL. Tickford were only involved in XR's. Whats your budget and aim? The Vortech setup is better then the Raptor gear, but that comes at a cost.

Lol i was thinking that aswell, its an EF you've got there. As for the tickford badges and tickford snorkel, someone who owned the car before you probably chucked them on.
Theres a few alternatives to supercharging. You could always turbocharge it or just work the motor NA. Keeping it NA however it will cost quite a bit, as it would be harder to get more power out of it NA once its worked already. If you're on a low budget but looking for a nice gain id go the raptor kit and get it set up right. You'd also need to upgrade the fuel side of things, bigger injectors, fuel pump etc but i think that the raptor kit comes with the injectors. And you'll also need a chip of some sort like a J3 to get the tune right. Before considering all this though, id be making sure that the motor, auto and diff will be up to the task. I know you can run blowers with the standard running gear but its better to have it handle the extra torque comfortably rather than breaking on you. |

sorry EFFalcon,
about the mistake I can get the Vortech 300kW basic kit for $7,995.oo So if I went ahead with this idea I guess I,d be looking at a budget of around $12,000 coz I've been advised to add a auto transmission cooler to help transmission & reduce the load on the cooling system, change to colder spark plugs with a smaller gap to cope with boost, extractors & full flowing exhaust would be a benefit, I am after advice has I am starting from scratch with basic car & want to get it right the first time around & I don't know anyone that has taken a project like this on. What about the standard trans & diff - axles? My son has a 1986 xf 347 stroker & when I pull up beside him at the tree I,d like to think that I'd worry him a bit devondevil |
