Hey guys.

Got a '95 EL. The lifters had been ticking really loudly in the past and I got 12 new ones from Veales Auto Parts. I'm not sure if they were Ford Genuine Parts or not. After replacing all the lifters and driving the car for a week the ticking noise has come back again. Just took it apart and the lifters are solid as s**t. Not nice and springy. The motors pretty dirty and I'm pretty sure it needs a good flush but I don't want to risk damaging rings etc. Had a close look at the lifters Veales supplied me with and the old ones. There's about a 1mm difference in size. Didn't quite compare before hand last week and they might just be the reason why they are cactus now. I'm not sure how to go about this now as I don't want to buy new lifters again and have them s**t themselves within a weeks time. Any advice appreciated. I'm not quite knowledgeable in depth with cars so anything I may have said that doesnt make sence just ignore or correct me. Thanks.

James.

how did u come to the conclusion that it was the lifters and not somthing else considering the noise com back with new lifters within a week ? also if ur worried about flushing the enginy why dont u do a compresion test or a blow by test to determine if the rings are up the s**t ?

I have an injector that ticks, use something like a screwdriver as a stethyscope and touch each injector and you should be able to notice the loud ones, you can pick injectors up for $100-300 a set depending on the quality you buy.
