Hi,
Just changed the diff in my ef futura to an el fairmont ghia 3.45 diff. I changed everything over. That is upper and lower control arms and used the el rotors and axles. Pretty much disk to disk unbolt and bolt on swap. I was just wondering if i have missed anything or done something i shouldn't have as i'm getting a weird vibration while decelerating from higher speeds, say 100. Everything is done up tight including tailshaft. The only thing i can think of is that the watts link between the ef and el are different spec. I used the old ef one which now seems silly but at the time i didnt think would matter. I know the pinion on the diff for the watts link is 20mm lower on the el but i dont think the actual watts link arms changed at all. But whether or not this is what is causing this vibration at deceleration got me stumped. Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Lowers are the same, uppers are different EF to EL, Watts is the same.
But it still sounds like diff angle....

hmmm... so should i have changed the upper arms or used the ef ones.
Also i remember seeing there is 3 holes, maybe for adjustment, on the axle where the upper control arm connects to it whereas the ef only has one. Not sure if i have to change that. :S

Use the EL uppers. Look under the car and see if the diff angle is inline with the tailshaft.

undo the tailshaft and rotate it 180 degrees from the pinion flange.

Are the EL upper arms that you used Tickford ones or Std EL ones? And are you running lowered springs?

The el upper arms are out of the el fairy ghia so i'm assuming they are tickford ones(maybe wrong on the assumption). I'm using lowered springs out of an xr6. MadMatt wrote: Use the EL uppers. Yeah i will have to check this out properly one the weekend. eboost wrote: undo the tailshaft and rotate it 180 degrees from the pinion flange. i'll also try this. Is it something to do with balance? ashcook wrote: I think I've seen on site somewhere before someone having the same issue and it was a matter of changing the position in those 3 mount holes you mentioned. Yeah i seem to remember something somewhere but i want some confirmation so i dont root it up further. Surely there has to be someone who has done this before. Thanks for the help so far. Cheers
