I just took off the spark plugs on my Ford Falcon AU Forte 4.0L i6 (Duel fuel - LPG/Petrol)
The spark plugs are: Bosch Super plus WR9LCX + Germany 790 +28 I plan to keep my car and make it last as long as possible, i'm not a racer, just a normal day to day driver - but I frequently alternate between LPG and Unleaded petrol. Two Questions: 1. Are these any good for my car or can someone recommend something better? 2. Also, what gap should I use? the repair manual says: 4.0L 1.0 - 1.1 mm 4.0L Gas 0.9 mm The problem is I use both LPG (Gas) and Unleaded!  So i'm not sure whether I should use 0.9mm or 1.0-1.1mm

The plug you have is an equivalent of NGK's BRE527-11
This is the most popular plug for for E-series that are on Gas. They're a cold plug ideal for gas. Just gap it at .9 That way when you decided to replace them you can see how they're burning and gap accordingly. As for buying new plugs, every AU I've pulled apart have used Iridium plugs. Gimmie a sec, I'll go to the shed and pull a plug out of an AU2 motor.

Ok, Mumerous times I've removed Denso Iridium VW16RA13 plugs from AU2's and yes, they're gapped at 1.3mm.
No idea why the large gap, and it even say's on the web site to use that size with these particular plugs. also, I've found Ford and Holden service replace plugs with denso, NFI why, there must be a reason.

1.3 mm? wow that's a large gap

the larger gap is for petrol, the smaller for gas. gas needs a stronger spark to ignte so i have been told. my 2001 au2 is on gas and having trouble starting and its believed new plugs of .9 will fix this problem

isent plug gap for lpg sopposed to be 0.8???

Krytox wrote: also, I've found Ford and Holden service replace plugs with denso, NFI why, there must be a reason. because denso make a good product. motorcaft plugs sold through ford are champions, motorcraft premium sold through ford are denso. proton, toyota, mitsubishi all use denso. proton and toyota have them branded with there own name. the AU2 uses a 1.3mm gap for petrol because it has a better coil. the AU1 still used the oul EF style coil. anyone that fits an AU2 coil to any of the early cars should run the bigger gap. |

Id it a worth wild exercise to fit a AU2 coil in a EF???
