Hey guys, as some of you know I just got a manual conversion about a week ago on my EBII XR6 (loving it so far) however, in the last couple of days it has developed a tinny rattling kind of noise. It only does it at around 1400rpm, no matter if in neutral/clutch is engaged, or what gear it is in... Any ideas what this could be? Something not tight enough, or the flywheel maybe?

Cheers in advance guys.

Sounds like it is coming from the flywheel/clutch kind of area.. not entirely sure what it could be?

Did you install new spigot and throwout bearings? The throwout bearings can make some noise when they wear. I think most people replace these when they have the gearbox out.

No I don't think they put new spigot and throwout bearings in... How much do u reckon that would set me back?

I bought a spigot bearing (not from Ford) for about $15. A throwout bearing was going to cost me $150, but I opted for a new clutch & throwout bearing for about $300-350. You can probably get the throwout bearing for less.

I wasn't keen to remove the gearbox after doing the conversion so I spent some $$$ to make sure it runs OK for a while. If someone else put the gearbox in for you, are those parts covered under the 3 month warranty (if it has one)?

Yeah there is a 3 month warranty, I might call them and make sure they are covered. They arent really expensive parts but I dont have to tools to take the box out myself so I will have to take it in somewhere...
