i have a 1000watt pioneer amp and sub but want to make room in the boot. my box and gas tank take up 2/3 of my boot space and i have a whole in my parcel shelf for 8" sub would fit nice. but it needs to be slim. if you hear of any please tell me. thanks.

Mines not factory fitted but i managed to fit a sub there. My build thread has some pics. Depends on the sub you put which = to sound quality.

Custom fit your sub there... that's what i basically did. I did it this way since i needed the boot space.

Could be a problem doing it because of the gas tank.

How much clearance is there between the back seat and the gas tank? If you can, get a free-air sub (preferably 10" or something) and mount it on the back of the seat. You can cut a hole where the centre arm rests folds down, use an MDF spacer between the rear seat and the sub (25mm should be fine) and just run it like that. Spacer is there so that the sub doesn't hit the arm rest at full excursion when it is folded up.

Person sitting in the centre would get a nice back massage I believe :D.

Not sure on the legalities of cutting a hole in the back seats though (the metal support part...which is about 5mm thick). I have been told it is okay by some and some say it is not because it is a structural part of the car. I think it isn't an important structural part of the car mainly because it wouldn't be much use in the structural integrity of the car when it is folded down to get to the boot.

Anyways just a suggestion :D.

thankyou for the idea its very welcome unfortunatly there is not enough room between the seat and the tank, i have mounted my amps there also. i found 8", 10" and 12" slim-line free air subs for sale from pioneer. the 8" which will fit my parcel shelf is $230.

Was going to suggest Pioneers slimline range, but didn't know they were free-air...or came in 8"...last time I looked they were for enclosed, but that was a couple of years back when they just came back. Might actually get one myself if they are free-air :D. thanks for the heads up ;)

yeah cheers, I had a look before :D. Looks like people can get a decent upgrade when the stock decides to blow up on them.
