A fully rebuilt Auto can be anything from $1200 to $2000.

Or you can source, as you suggested, a second hand box. You don't need an EL box. Any auto from EB11 onwards is the same, and earlier boxes also have a dipstick.

Second hand boxes can vary in price from $250 up, depending on condition.

I still have the auto box from my EB11 that I may be interested in selling. Was working great when removed for a manual conversion.
