havent fitted any of it but just wanted to know if all of that gear fitted to a std engine would keep the fuel consumption the same as a std ford or better before i decide wether to have that gear put on.
can the timing chain be put on with the engine in the car while the heads off later on |

It should be worse since you are putting more fuel into your engine...but the results is a little bit of a faster engine. Fuel consumption shouldn't change too much. phong =P~

So expect fuel consumption to be the same as a normal XR6 motor. Yes timing chain can be taken out while the head is out, it is actually easier to remove the chain while the head is off. While you're at it, change the guides as well and make sure everything lines up before you put the chain back on randomly. phong =P~

its a complete waste of time to fit an XR spec cam if you have the head off, spend the $140 odd and get a decent wade cam.
the xr cam is not a noticeable difference to the std cam, the main thing that made the xr's faster was the 3.45 gearing. |

fitting the xr6 gear is a good easy mod to start with if you get it for the right price and esp if you already have the old head off, you will notice an small increase in power and torque with stuff all difference in economy. its not hard to change a cam later on down the track if you decide to go that way.
