As the topic title says, I'm trying to locate the engine drain plug on an EF? I have a Haines manual and it mentions that there is such a plug. I had a bit of a dig around tonight but I wasn't able to find it. So any help appreciated.

im pretty sure there is none. if u want to drain your coolant just disconnect the bottom radiator hose and presto its best to flush your radiator too befor you put new stuff in. hope this helps.

Cheer's guys.
I'm driving to Perth and back next week (1600kms each) and the old girl got a little hot last time we did the trip, hitting the 'O' on Normal on the temp guage for extended periods. So I vowed to change the coolant before we did it again. It looked a bit ugly, I am going to give it a radiator flush treatment tomorrow. There is a little plastic plug under that bottom hose in the radiator, I think it allows you to comletely empty it. |

Not sure if its the right way to do it, but I took the thermostat out and shoved the hose in there and flushed it that way. I was wondering if its possible to do this with the engine running so it pumps the fresh water through the block as well?
Today I filled the system back up with some fresh water and used an alkaline based cleaner to hopefully get rid of some of the brown s**t that has built up. When I get home I'll drop it and fill with nice clean coolant. |

Yep i found that out the hard way lol, jacked the car up and got underneath it trying to find the plug, gave up when i realised the radiator was aftermarket so had to take the bottom hose off and drain it that way |

My falcon hits O all the time, it has yet to go any further though - to me it appears to be normal. If it went past 'M' i might be starting to get worried. 'O' doesn't seem too bad does it?

Mine sticks to between A and L..... i live fretty far south of SA so dont know about further up north. |

I spent hours looking for it - pretty silly imho Genuine Ford radiators have a drain plug. Non-genuine radiators do not. They are found through a hole in the front most crossmember on the drivers side. They are a plastic hex head, 13mm hex with a Phillips head in the centre.
