ok iv put another A2A MAP sensor in it but now it sits on 2,000rpm if you give the throttle a stab it will sit near 3,000rpm then slowly go back down to 2,0000rpm..

do the numbers below the ford part number mean anything? do i have to get a MAP sensor with those same numbers on it or will any A2A sensor do?
thanks

anyone know what those group of number/letters below the ford part number mean? or is it just a batch number as such?

Just a quick one mate, did you check the valves when you pulled the head off.
When i done the headgasket on my old el it had a bent valve which in the end got stuck and smashed one of the rocker arms.
When it blew the headgasket i thought it never got hot so was a little stunned it bent a valve.
So i eneded up replacing the head gasket twice.

Good luck anyways mate.

problem solved, seems as tho the car took a bit to get used to the new MAP sensor after i put it in it idled at 2,00rpm after a while it came down to 1,500rpm and started sounding good not running rich no hesitation either. adjusted base idle and now the car is all good. thanks to everyone who helped.

now.. my temp gauge fluctuates slowly between N and R like it has thermos fans. is it just the temp sender in the side of the thermostat housing? ill change it tomorrow and see how i go anyway.
