Hey guys, mates dad has a 393 sitting there and were both not sure what its worth, any general idea's? Has been out of car for year's sitting in the shed.

How hard are accessories etc to find for the 393? Im thinking maybe use it instead of the ls2 for my engine conversion into the merc but only if the price is right and has some advantages.

Any help appreciated

if its just a stock block and a 393 crank and mild cam stock heads and mainly stock rods pistons and the alike you can get all the bits and pieces for only a couple of grand specially if its not quality stroker gear and doesnt rev hard.... but if every thing is balanced lightened quality stroker parts has been all replaced with ARP stud bolts, girdles, good set of heads that are flowed and big meaty solid cam all quality top shelf parts for racing then you could easly spend 10 - 16 grand hell it was $2200 for me to have my block preped to handle my 393 Combo .....
Just remember this ....Horse power is cheap reliability isnt ..

Geez, thats a bit much.
I had Pavtek prep my block for the 408 stroker, and hot tank, crack test, grout fill,
fit and supply oil restrictors, line hone the tunnel, bore and hone with torque plate,
deck the blocks to get zero deck, run a tap though all the threads, supply and fit
cam bearings was $1050 inc gst.

There is nothing extra you have to do with a 393/408 stroker that you would do to
any other 302/351 build.

Yea.. BUT... Your in Big Block territory now so the heads will be like breathing through straws..
Would make a good cruiser all the same..

I was referring to block prep, not heads.

But in saying that, i only have 205cc 2V heads and they work fine on 408 cubes.
If the OP has 4V heads, that will be plenty enough head.

But if this 393 has been sitting in a shed for years, i would like to know what sort, as 3.85 stroker cranks havn't been around for years have they?
