i'm thinking about one of bottom 3 just after some feed back on what they are like,
unfortunatly i have the gay hybrid motor and i'd rather not have coil bind so i will most likely get stronger valve springs too. umm so if anyone can tell me what they are like to live with that would be awesome :D cheers guys an gals

back when i had an e series i was always keen on the 1673.
it all makes sence, better power than the 1636 and better idle than the 977b.

and should be find with stock ecu and an auto

none of those will fit your engine as they are e series grinds. which have different rocker ratio. you need an AU grind for the hybrids.

you will have to ring Wade cams and ask them what sort of grind they can do you.

I have one here at home for an AU that is "roughly" the equivelant of a 1636/1673 type grind according to wade cams/ its called the 1671AU, its for auto.

ill see if i can find you the specs.

Ill second what grimketel just said, with your EL being hybrid, its basically got an AU top end so you'll need a cam suited to the AU rocker gear.

Gezza220 has a EL hybrid and has got a wade cam in it from memory, i think he has the one that grimketel is talking about (1671AU)

Nice figures, that amount of torque for an NA e-series on the street would be heaps of fun

great to see that it pumps out some decent figures gezza, but sorry to hear it cost you your licence. rather it cost your licence than put you into a pole tho :P

time to get it down the strip and see what ET it pulls. have a mate drive it down for you so you can have a few runs :)

ok yeah mines a manuel so no worries there about it stalling cause of a too big a cam and having it argue with the stall convertor an all that poo. i dont mind a rough idle as long as it sounds good and not crappy. umm yeah i understood about the au top end if someone has similar cam for au then that would be sweet cheers guys

which rocker gear has the higher ratio???????
plz correct me if i'm wrong...
if i had too cams with exactly same amount of lift on ex and in and ons for e series one for authe rocker gear with higher ratio would theorectically give a higher overall amount of lift ???
what i'm saying is if the au ratio is higher than el/ef and i got a cam with 500thou lift to suit au and a cam with 500thou lift to suit e series and buoght a cam to suit the higher ratio rocker assembly then when combined i'd get an higher overall amount of lift then i would having 500thou lift with the lower ratio rocker assembly.
like i said plz correct me if i'm wrong i just throwing around ideas

i think.. I think the e series rocker gear is 1.7:1 and the au/hybrid is 2.0:1. its one of the two lol.

I dont think you can put the larger e seires cam in an au rocker gear due to the journal sizes being different. they just dont mix.

you just get the right cam for your engine with regards to lift.

Depends what you want in the end, do you want a regrind or a billet? If you get a regrind you need to stuff around with different shims for the rocker gear. Get a billet and get it right the first time. Have a look at my results, I've got similar mods to you.

That's all well and good to swap the rocker gear but you still need to use the appropriate cam for the gear, au cam with e series gear won't give enough lift and e series cam doesn't go with au gear, I've seen a set au gear that was mated with an e series cam and it chopped about half an inch out of the bottom of the rocker arms.

yeah sorry i meant swap it over with the correct cam to suit so my understanding is, au rocker gear with a cam to suit au rocker gear with 500thou lift will give an higher overall lift than
an e series cam with 500 thou lift with e series rocker gear
