Got the rego sorted out, and some plates until the custom ones are ready. So thought it fitting to test her out with a Lobethal bakery run, and a photo shoot.
Car ran like a dream, put a new fuel filter in just in case, and have an oil filter and oil ready to change, have to look at the manual to see about servicing the trans. Definitely needs disc brakes on the front around the hills, will look into what is needed for the conversion. Now some pics |

If you wish to keep the front drums on for the mean time, take the drums off, and groove the brake shoes, angle ways so as to move the brake dust to the inner backing plates. This is an old trick from way back....I used to do it on motorbikes with f & r drums.

Thanks for that, I will do that tomorrow, I will also bleed the whole system and new fluid, check master cylendar etc. |

Started sorting out some parts to get the project under way
Found a New old stock lock set, brand new in the box (keep that for when it's painted) Decided to rewire the whole car, that way I know what's what, plus it's so simple compared to a modern car. This will become the main fuse box, mounted up under the dash, I will cut the lid so only the fuse cover and headlight relay fuses come through, indicator flashers etc will be mounted in the box. |

Starting to look at suspension and airbags.
The rear will go 4-link, and thinking about some 'shockwave' airbag over shocks like these for the front: Looking at the suspension setup in the XK it should work, if I can find the right size air/shock, mounts and brackets I can make to suit. There is plenty of room in the spare wheel well area for compressors and tanks etc. |

the blue looks sweet steve,
just like my old man's xk wagon his is still drum but has vh44 booster on the fronts i was learning to drive on the when i was 10yo, my old man was standing a few metres away telling me what to do. i started to bunny hop it as the clutch was a bit hard, he said touch the brake and i stamped on it and my 4yo bro in the back flew over the front seat and landed in the front floor. no seat belts either, but they were great brakes

^^ lol ^^ I've nearly done that myself, when the drums grab they sure do grab.
Bit of photochoping, can't get the blue right, as the black reflects light differently than any colour, when you change it in photoshop the highlights and shadows are always off a bit, but it gives me the idea. Castlemaine rod shop do some kit stuff for the XK's Front brake kit, uses HQ calipers and XW-XB discs Rack and pinion kit, uses a VB-VK manual rack V8 conversion, mounts, tie bar, C4 crossmember I might buy the brake kit, but the other two I will probably make myself and save some $$ |
