Spoke with an airbag suspension guy today, looks like it will be pretty easy and neat to bag it.
Using 'Shockwaves' (sort of like airbag coil-overs) single adjustable all round. They also make new front control arms that fix the geometry when lowered. 4-link for the rear looks pretty easy, using 5" travel 'shockwaves'. And as long as i use a 4-way control system, no probs at all with engineering. Gotta decide on a diff. A Centura diff is the perfect width, and retains Ford 5 stud. Or go a e-series housing, shorten it and get some axles made. |

Just got off the phone with Transport SA Vehicle Standards Dept.
All I have to do to put a 302 in the XK is put 240mm discs on the front, that's it. Don't have to put seat-belts Don't have to put a collapsable column Don't have to put 2-speed wipers Don't need an engineers certificate, just an inspection at Motor Reg. Lovin this 1960 stuff |

I am itchin to get it in the shed and pulled apart, just gotta wait for the all Ford day first. I spoke with the guy that built it, he sold it three years ago. As I am planning a bare metal job I wanted to get an idea of what I will find under the paint, he tells me it us all pretty solid, and there was no rust when it was done. So that is sounding quite pleasing. |
