I haven't done much to it (yet) but it had to start somewhere.

I got this Fairmont 6months ago with a Seized engine @ 181,000km, 6months later it's now done 194,000km. The top hose connection split and fell off on the guy that had it before me. He let it cook itself down the motorway because "there was too much traffic to be able to change lanes and pull over".

I scored an almost new radiator for $70 and a new Block + Head for $200 that had done 200,000km so while I was at it I replaced the Thermostat, exhaust and intake manifold gaskets plus put on a new water pump.

It was stock as a rock when I bought it but since then I've replaced all the dash lights with White LED's and blue for the oil pressure and temp gauges, put Stainless extractors on it, a high flow Muffler and lowering Springs in the front. The photos are of it before I lowered it, will post some new ones soon.

Hey EF Nut, looks like a good starting place, what have you got in mind for it?

Nothing too major.

Drop the back 2inches with reset leaves
Replace all the shocks
Get it sounding nice (just ordered a new muffer for it today)
Manual Conversion

Then look at putting a different cam in it and dyno it.

Go the E Series Wagons.

Looking forward to seeing what mods you do.

Hi,

Haven't had a chance to upload any new photos for a while....
Since the last post I've Tinted the Windows and put some 17" x8 ROH Wheels with 225/55 tyres in the back and 225/45 on the front... These will be changing to 235/45's soon :) (when funds permit)

The car is driving soo much better now with the new wider and better quality tyres. The wheels came with Continental GT's on the front and Nangkans on the back. The Continentals only have 2mm of tread left but they are a very good tyre.

It's been running very well and I've been on 3 long trips in it in the last 4 weeks and just clocked it over 200,000km now.

The Front is lowered 1.5". Just going to lower the back 2" more. I would lower it more but I use to to tow a 3 ton trailer so lowering it too much would make it a bit impractical for me. :(

Yeah I get that, my bro-in-law has an old Fairlane that needs to be lowered big time but he lives in the bush so he needs the clearance!

Update:

After 2 weeks from ordering new front Tyres for the "White Whale" I finally got them on today, I went from getting Dunlop Direzza 101's to a pair of Hankooks to finally today when I got to the tyre shop they had in the very last of the 1st generation Goodyear Eagle F1's reduced from $290 a tyres to $147.... I couldn't resist so I took the plunge and brought 4 :)

I also thought if I'm going to get probably one of the best road tyres on the market I should really replace my front shocks because they're stuffed, so I got a new pair of those and if I'm doing all this I figured I should really replace the front Rotors because they're warped.

So 4 Tyres, 2 shocks and 2 rotors + $1000 later I now have a car that handles like it should.

the 235/45/17 Eagle F1's are fantastic, so much grip.

Finally The While Whale isn't so much of a whale now :)
