Nah, that bunch of photos took a heap of resizing and editing in a software called (wait for it!) GIMP.
I tried putting a thread on flikr and link it across, but all it would do is write up the address. Am still stuffing around with it. Until I sort it out you will have to go to all the effort of moving the mouse over the hyperlink and use those well toned wrist muscle and click your mouse button. The pleasure will be all yours!

All Ford Day 2013 and the Turtle was primped, preened and presented!

The only reason it didn't win Concourse de Elegance was that should it have won all other entrants would have doubted their own abilities and not bothered entering next year! Nah? No, I don't think that's the case either!

Front near side (passengers) wheel has had a slow leak over the last couple of weeks, and not a steady leak but a really slow leak over 5 or 6 days followed by a quick leak in a couple of days, back to a slow one etc etc.
Took offending tyre in to my preferred tyre retailer to check it out. Turns out I have a very nicely bent rim! Damn! I think I know the pot hole on which I did this... thank you Blue Mountains City Council! Anyhow, mate at tyre shop added more tyre sealer to rim and "lets see how that goes".
Had to get the Turtles spare tyre looked at too because, well Kojak had more tread on his head! All good in that department now.

The guy down at Mt Druitt can reroll them to sort it out.
Troyman had one of the rims that's now on the Fairute done by a place when he owned them. It wasn't that dear and it seems to have done the trick.

yep I had it done by Morton & may wheels at warwick farm. it was $120 to r&r tyre and re roll rim...

Yeah Matt, offending rim is on the back. I wouldn't trust a "see how it goes" on the front.

A bit has happened since August.

In that time my gorgeous daughter started her first full time job and needed a car to get to and from. As she learned to drive in the Turtle and we know its history and tops reliability we offered her the ownership of said Ford.

Funny thing watching your girl drive off in what was yours!

She's doing a good job of looking after it, although (this is talking out of school a bit!) there was one moment when she rang me and I could tell by the tone of her voice something was up. She was reverse parking in a shopping centre and bumped the rear bumper into a concrete column. It flexed enough to crack the paint on the upper face of the bar. Her terror of what my response would be melted away when all I did was laugh at her misfortune!! Handling big vehicles....been there, done that! Not my car anymore anyhow!

The next worried call I got from her came one Sunday afternoon. On leaving the Penrith Westfields and travelling along Mulgoa Rd, all the ancilliaries stopped working, but the car was running happily. Smart girl that she is, knew something was amiss and not wanting to be in the middle of the road should something more untoward happen, found a parking lot to pull into and attempted to turn the car off. No joy. Car kept running. CALL DAD!
Always eager to play hero I drove down to her and confirmed that there was no way of shutting down car. Yep, all blinkers and brake lights worked, ancilliaries were dead and ignition key felt like a teaspoon in custard. All my hero duties fulfilled and no freaking idea what to do next, CALL MATT_JEW!
Yep, followed his instruction and followed my girl home in case worse happened on the way up the hill. Turtle cruised home without issue and sat idling in my front yard while I unplugged fuel pump relay and let it bleed out. Disconnected the battery, then I opened up the steering column and the back of the ignition switch disemboweled itself into my hand. Nice.
As my daughter climbed into the passengers seat of her boyfriends car (he had driven down take her out for the evening......chivilrous gentleman that he is) I performed numerous contortional movements and headstands in the drivers footwell to replace the back of the ignition switch. I wasn't happy with recrimping the sides of the ignition barrel to hold the backing plate in so I inserted a couple of small self tapping screws between the barrel side and the cast ally casing of the steering column to prevent the back coming back out. It's not gorgeous, but it works.

Whilst my girl has been tootling around in the Turtle, my son has been on his "L" plates. My father had bought a 1990 N13 Pulsar for driver training with our car club and my son was very familiar with the vehicle plus it was a manual which he was adamant was the way to go. My father handed the Pulsar over saying it would fill the spot of the Turtle for me until my son got his "P" plates and then he could have it.
It's been a ripper of a little car and a h3ll of a lot of fun!
Well my son is now down to the last couple of hours on his "L" plates so I started looking around for my own car.

I wanted a 4X4. I looked around for a couple of months but was never satisfied with the quality, or lack thereof, for the price. My wifes BF Falcon Wagon was far better quality for money than any of the fourbys I'd looked at. Maybe i was too picky, maybe I was on the wrong track. Should I go and look at a track car instead, like an XR6 Turbo? Or XR5 Turbo? AAAH! Totally headfunked I walked away from it all.

Matt_Jew and I work together, and on the way to a job we drove past an old Jeep Cherokee. "Should look at that," he said as we passed it, so after work, we did.
I was sixes and sevens at first, but quality (?) for price ... it was a steal!

So I did.

I bought a Jeep.

Seriously Edzie has Jeep ownership sussed already.
Driving along yesterday he casually said "Dude there is a whole bunch of cut off wires hanging down near my knee. I reckon that's why these dash lights don't work." and just kept driving like it was normal!
No mention of Id better take a look at them or anything similar. Just matter of fact stated what the issue was and then ignored it................

Well, at least so many Ford parts are interchangeable they can be fixed properly....using a Swiss Army Knife of course!

As she appeared when I brought it home, already sporting a Ford water pump, according to it's previous owner.
