i thought the cam position sensor did as it says and informed the computer what position the cams in and when to open and close the injectors ...which is aligned at TDC after the cams been dialled in during engine assembly
is this correct? |

What does same position mean?...what voltage? The cam sensor does not time the injectors, the crank encoder does. The CID sensor is only for signifying what stroke the cyl 1 is on for start of fuel injector timing, the actual firing events are marked by the crank encoder. If you can make an adjustable crank sensor mount you'll be able to adjust base timing with that. Get your TPS to 0.98volts for the least lag between idle and part throttle modes and therefore best performance. I think you'll find the crank encoder gives the ecu the reference point of when to fire the ignition not the injectors. |

No that's incorrect.... it(the CID) gives a point of reference as to which stroke the engine is on from TDC on cyl 1. Then it uses the crank encoder to determine exactly the crank degrees at which to fire the injectors. A single tooth reference(the CID sensor) for 720 degrees of crank rotation is not enough resolution for accurate sequential firing of the injectors. |

I've just been to the weigh bridge, my car weighs a whopping 1,700kg!!!!!!!!! I'm an extra 100kg. That kind of kg will easily add an extra .2 second onto my time.

Add an extra .2 tenths compared to what? These AU's are not exactly lightweights. Just be thankful you dont have a ute, or it would be heavier again...lol. Anyway, good luck at the track. I look forward to seeing what numbers you put down. |

Thats not bad, The old XH weighed in at 1600kg plus 120kg for me so its pretty even in that department. xr8ute is right, How can you say it'll at .2 of a second? What are comparing too. An AU is an AU, you cant say you can drop .2 of a second off coz it weighs 1700kg.

This things pretty mental. Anything over 2,500rpm and it just bags them up, thats with 245/35/18 dunlops. Put the pressure down and still a handfull.
Acceleration wise, well I'm keeping my cards close to my chest lol |

In first gear obviously. Try using a tyre with a bigger sidewall. I get way better traction with cheap a** Wanli 225/50/16's at 30psi than i did with 265/30/19 Toyo Proxes4's. No point dropping pressure out of an 18" tyre, you dont achieve anything.
