I recall you said somewhere you had to show a certain Red AU XR8 a thing or 2 down the track but I can't find where it was. Do you still have the same attitude or do you think you still have a bit of work ahead of you?

scaffy, that .2 of a second is the least of the problems atm, gota get the change from 3rd to 4th right without grabbing reverse otherwise that .2 of a second might aswell be light years away.

sorry t2te50, when i read about your gear changing thismorning i almost fell of my chair i was laughing that hard.

Maybe he should fit an auto... Leave it in D as well.

:P

Looks like you've got a bit of work to do dude, 14.2 with a 'built' engine is no improvement on standard.

14.4 Dave. He reckons you have to allow .2 of a second coz of the weight of the car plus him. For some reason i do not understand this, i thought you "run what you brung". If it weighs 1700kg it weighs 1700kg. You cant tell every AU owner out there to drop .2 sec off their time because it weighs so much. Its a F**k joke!!!!

Remember the old saying, stock just doesn't rock? I think that may be the case, yeah?

Anyways, enough of that. Dude, I'm all for seeing more Fords running down the strip and showing those SSs a thing or 2 and I reckon you should be doing the same. I'm guessing you'd have spent a bit of cash on the motor already, all for what? If you're going to be spending any more, you'd be mad not to get yourself a good set of heads and cam to suit. You've pretty much got the rest, so make that puppy breathe some fire!

fit some decent gear if your gonna spend the money, make some serious power, crack some decent times etc

Instead of offering challenges to others who have already achieved these things whilst you havnt...

14.2 is like .5 of a second better then standard and hell of alot better then any auto 5L for that matter. As if my car can compete against a 1550kg Ute anyway XH5LWEPN.
I rebuilt the whole motor myself not like some tool that sends it all away to be done.
It will run 14.2, just not this time.

Mate dont ark up up just because you talked more than you could walk. End of story.
I DO feel sorry for you. At least i spent about the same amount of cash as you and walked away a happy man.
Oh and i have an EL XR8 engine on an engine satnd in the shed now and dont worry this one will get built by ME and RUN the FIRST time, not the 2nd or 3rd.

hey Bro....im 125kg and my fairmont ghia has the real heavy IRS in it so what do you reckon -.5 of a second

to say your the fastest auto 5.0l
its good your happy with what youve achieved .....but perhaps if you'd listened to some of the advice on here ...you,d have done a lot better, and saved some money

ive done a 14.4 in NZ (the times are slower over here) i think its the tracks or something T3;S are only doin 14.2

stock 40p heads ported and stock explorer ported auto ,with stock rubber and the motor hasnt been out of the car

so the point made above that your hardly better than stock is valid especially for a fully blueprinted motor with alloy heads???

OMG!!!! YOU'E MY HERO BECAUSE YOU BUILT IT YOURSELF, AND DIDN'T GET THE RESULTS YOU WERE AIMING FOR.

Seriously, not everyone has the time or knowledge to DIY. I know I'm not one of them. That's why I DON'T do things myself. I know there is a (fairly good) chance I will end up stuffing something up and it will cost twice as much to get fixed as it would have done to gt a workshop to do it in the first place.

You call people who know their limits a tool, yet you set yourself some pretty high targets, and didn't reach them. Who's the real tool?

You really need to grow up and get off your high horse, at least until you have a real reason to be there.

Better than any auto 5L?

My ute was about the complete opposite of yours, i.e. std iron GT40P's, std Explorer intake, std bottom end, but aftermarket cam (Crane 2030) w/rockers and valve springs to suit, std tune, std converter, Pacey pipes, single 3", and 3.91:1 gears.

My PB is 14.153 @ 98.68mph, and 2.134 60'.

And its an auto (w/std converter)

And its race weight is 1800kg+.

And i did all the work myself.

And while I am happy with the result, I dont think it is especially worth bragging about. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I dont doubt that you'll run quicker, I just dont see that you are breaking any records, or any new ground even if you run a 13.

There are guys with very std AU 220kw manuals that have run sub-14.

You've spent a bucket load of cash on the wrong parts IMO.
