It's going good XR8ute, just got to piece her back together again after a small $4,000 hicup. Now with forged rods and pistons (100 grams lighter). 3-4 weeks to go till I smash that 14.0 second barrier in the HEAVY weight :D

Wasnt this all up and running? Now its all aprt gain and your putting in a forged bottom end???
My mate ran a 13.8 wth the fitment of AFR 165's and a Comp 270HR-14 cam with 1.6's to his AUII XR8. Was a 2.3sec 60ft and 101mph. Should be dropping that time this Wednesday.

Mothers sold me a early model timing chain kit!!! 2mm shorter then the roller kit and ended up fouling on blocke etc.
What an amatuer I thought I was going to explode, Slapped the thing together after doing a 12 hr shift after midnight!! I'll never take anything for granted ever again.
Funny thing was even with all that internal resistance had more power then before!!!! LOL

I got MAHL pistons (ACL) supposedly top s**t, $900 so I hope so. The rods are scat 'H' beam for $550. They'll have to add weight to the crank to compensate (balance). I got to port the heads (only 2 bent valves) so I'm happy about that. s**t happens but once it will be going it will be my DREAM car.

Not a nightmare, far from it. Just can't stand speed shops, they try to pedal anything to you just to make a profit.
I can put the engine together in my sleep from head tensioning sequence to end float/clearances to ring gap positions and prepping.
My wheel and cosmetic money has been blown on this current setback. Don't give up hope yet guys because this red devil will be poundinging the tarmac soon!!!!!

Bugger. So what was the hiccup that caused a full rebuild with new rods and pistons ???

Ouch. So the chain was rubbing the block, and failed?

How far did you go getting the heads ported? Some clean-up will help those heads for sure.

Hang in there dude.....

Well seeing as it is all apart again... and the only OEM things remaining are the block and the crank... I'd put in an E303 cam and be done with it. Still all 'Ford' and it will make a lot more power than the factory camshaft.

Well got the parts back and just about to put the jigsaw puzzle back together again. The forged rods have a schamffer on one side and can only go on one way (Schamffer pointing to big end radius). unlike the factory rods.
All good apart from the pricks losing my gudgeon retaining clips AAARRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm about to explode.!!!!!
