t2... I never bagged you out mate. You obviously completely missed my point when I was talking about stock. Obviously for me right now, aftermarket doesn't rock either! Thanks for pointing out the lamenes... I thought I'd already done that myself though!

I don't have a 1" phenolic spacer as it won't fit. I had to go with the 3/8".

I want to have a run on a different dyno and see if I get the same figures.

BOTTLEDUP - I changed the fuel pump to a warlbro 255.

Kilma - it got coolish on the night. I don't know if I said this earlier or not, but I notice the missing more when it's cooler. If it's in the day and it's warm, it doesn't seem to do it.

It could be leaning out... Unusual to happen after a tune. Is the ignition system up to scratch?

Overall how does it run? What is the fuel consumption like?

I haven't been online for a while... that time of year and am in a major shutdown at work doing 12hr days, 7 days a week.

I've not done anything about my car since last getting it back. I went up and saw XH5LWEPN and we went for a drive in both on seperate occasions. I was interested to see how his felt on the power and I wanted to check out his shifter to see if it felt the same as mine.

Leaning out is a possibility. I'm thinking about going full aftermarket tune and throwing in one of those afr guages that Jeff has. I'm also thinking about stroking it. I just need to know someone I can take it to get a GOOD job done and not have ongoing issues after I get it back.

It runs ok, there's quite a bit of a rolling idle now, especially when I gear down to the lights. It will cut out at times as I'm coming to a stop. Today at 5000rpm at wot it kept s**t itself and completely lost power. The ignition system has completely been overhauled except the coil they gave me had a fault so I'm running off the stock coil. That could be my problem there. But I don't know... I'll just have to save as much as I can on this shutdown and stroke it and re-tune it.

Does anyone have any idea on the cost of stroking??? I've been thinking about going with a Haltech as well. Any thoughts?

Oh yeah, fuel consumption. My last tank of fuel averaged less than 11.5/100km. That's going from Epsom ave to Great Eastern Hwy to Tonkin to Roe to the Freeway down to Anketell Rd every day. About 110km round trip, pretty much 100kmh speed limit the whole way. Speed limit gets broken every now and then and lots of dropping back to 3rd to get around traffic. If I drove like a grandma I'd be seeing 10 or so to the 100

Fuel economy isn't bad at all, comparable or better than I'm getting from the stock TE...

As far as stroking it is concerned, we can help you with the engine, only thing is we don't pull it from the car. If you can arrange to get someone to pull it out (hit up Jeff!!) ;) we'd be able to sort it for you. I can do you a quote if you like, while we are there we can verify that everything was done correctly when the heads & cam were installed.

Going to a full aftermarket ECU will solve a lot of your tuning problems, be it Haltech, Motec, Mircotech etc.

Ultimately the ball's in your court I guess, we'd be happy to sort it out for you if you choose. :)

I know Jeff is extremely happy with your work... I'd appreciate a quote if you could pm me. That would be great!

I got ripped on the lifters... I think they had to make up for what they didn't make on all the other stuff I sourced myself. Around 500 I think

Your fuel economy is very good, well compared to my 14.9 litres per 100km haha.Im pretty sure the windsors only got roughly 13.5 per 100 km from the factory or somewhere near that.

The fuel economy varies... That was the last tanks before BOTTLEDUP asked me. The one after that was about 13.5.

I've been so over this f**k car lately. I want to try and get it sorted now but am worried that with whatever I do, it's going to end up f**k. I really need to get the tune sorted and am thinking about going to XFT to get a switch chip fitted. I've also been seriously thinking about going for a full engine management system and doing it properly but can't see me getting much change out of 5000 if I go for a Haltech or MoTeC. At least with any one of these products I know that the guys who are distributors for them have full support from the companies and if they have any trouble, they have someone they can speak to. There's no guessing involved. I know with the twEECer, there seemed to be a lot of guessing involved in the tune and Pete (not the tuner) didn't get the support from his supplier that he should have done. Yeah, it works great with some EECs but unfortunately on mine it's pretty well f**k. It stalls, it misses and it's generally running like a pig.

Does anyone have any personal knowledge on any of the engine management systems as far as what works well with our motors? Every person I've spoken to who deals with a certain product tells me they wouldn't touch this or that with a barge pole, but they've got to say that to sell their product.

I'm a bit concerned with the state of my bottom end as the big girl's coming up to 200,000ks and I think it'd be due for a freshen up pretty soon. Pete's had me seriously thinking about dropping a 351 in for a while now, but I think it's going to be a bit too time consuming for me. I figured that if I get the bottom end freshened up with the ability to handle a bit more power, then while it's all apart I may as well stroke it.

Then, if I stroke it, do I have to change out my injectors again, will the throttle body be big enough, or will I have to buy anything else to suit?

It's a bit of a dilemma for me at the moment, cos I've got my eye on a new gearbox as that's just about cactus and diff and tailshaft will probably be getting the once over pretty soon as well. I realise I'll be pouring too much money into the thing but I've grown very attached to it and have already put enough money into it that I'd kick myself if I got rid of it now and lost out. It'll be hanging around for a while yet, even though an XR6t would be a much easier path to take!

I'll PM you an estimate based on a nodular 347 or 331... Your choice of stroke really.

I think there are issues with the way the cam and heads were fitted which are causing most of your woes. My $0.02 is pull the engine and we'll start again.

Let us know how you go with the thinking.

Last time I thunk, it hurt. :( Hahaha.

Keen to see where you go for this one.

Oh yeah, it hurts. I don't know if I'll be doing too much just yet. I've got the money there to stroke it, but then will have nothing for tuning or gear box (which I don't think will last long once stroked). If I go out and get a MoTec then I know I can be guaranteed a professional tune with awesome support and I'd also probably be able to do the gearbox too. Only problem is, if there is an issue with the way the top end was put together, which I believe could be a big part of my problem, then no matter how good a tuner I use, it's still going to be f**k. The bottom end will probably s**t itself before I have the money to stroke it then.

I'm going over all this with a few people and get as much worthwhile advice as I can.

Some other personal issues may pop their ugly heads up over the next few weeks also. If that happens then I won't be spending a cent of this money on my car. We'll just have to wait and see.

Kilma - do you still have that shorter shifter for sale? Would be keen to grab it off ya :)

Jeff - Are you getting any closer to your tune?
