There is a problem with the length of the cylinder bores from what I've heard... Using a DART or Man'o'War (my pick is the DART sportsman) doesn't have the same problem, as well as a much better oiling system.

Dart Sportsman is effectively an aftermarket version of the Ford Motorsport A4 and R302 blocks. With the dollar how it is now they're great value too! :D

The genius designers made the cylinder bore length .350" shorter than usual for some unknown reason so there is a big issue in relation to piston skirt suppport on some stroker kits.

They probably thought it would assist with bore/rod clearance. Word is there's some white coats at Ford with some serious sore a***.

Even a normal 347 piston would have marginal support at BDC and the rings will get the sh*t hammered out of them.

Using a 347 5.315 rod would be worse and be getting to the stage the rings would be so close to popping out its not funny.

Its not rocket science to see this as doing the maths will show.

A 331 stroker would pass but not the 347 :D

You would need to have custom pistons made to alleviate these issues so its not a block I would use as at the moment the Boss is a Blooper :D.

Cool, thanks for the info. There's another vote for Dart. When the time comes, it looks like I'll be heading down that path then.

Yes don't remind me... :P It is expected to make approx 720-750hp at the fly, plus the gas. Should be able to give T&M's Street Machine feature engine a run for its money. ;)
