I was trying to check my tps voltage tonight and am having a few problems. I checked out the sticky but still have a couple of questions.
With the ignition on I was getting a reading of 5.00v. With only the accesories on I get a reading of 0.39v. I thought I'd try accessories after ignition as it was so far off. I didn't stick a pin through the wires, rather pierced the wires with the sharp ends on the multimeter probes. This should be ok, right? I don't want to go adjusting anything just yet because it seems like something's not right to start with. Ages ago, Terry told me that he'd set it to .97v, so I figured it should be at least close to that. Is it possible to be as high as 5v?

Sounds about right.
Where were you getting your earth from? one of the TPS screws are good for that, .97v sounds spot on.

Nah dont use the TPS screws for the earth. Probe the green(?) wire with your red multimeter lead and probe the black wire with your black multimeter lead and get the reading from between the two.
What your doing sounds alright Scaffy, just make sure your probing the wires properly, my multimeters probes arent sharp enough so i push two safety pins into the wires and get my reading off them, just gotta make sure you have a good contact though. Oh and be patient, wait till the m/meter has sat on a specific voltage. Make sure key is onto ignition and throttle is at its normal closed position. Should be able to get it set 0.98v.

yeah, I'll have another crack tomorrow. Red was in the green wire and black to the black. It was settled at 5v. Hopefully I can get it sussed tomorow. It may explain the rolling idle and crappiness when coming to a stop...

No worries, pretty sure 5v is up around where it should be at WOT. If you have any dramas mate feel free to give me a ring and come round.

Scaffy/schnoods people pulling similar power etc.
I wouldn't bother rebuilding the diff. It will go again far too quickly. Admittedly, I don't treat my car nicely, but I don't kill it either. I had my diff rebuilt by AD Diffs. Packed nice & toight. It was gone again all of 2-3 months later. Apparently it is now pretty much totally destroyed, so I'll be saving for that Kaaz (among a few other things) sooner than planned.

Another good reason not to try and do s**t in the dark... I had the red in the red but could've sworn it was green!
Kilma, too late...

.97 I didn't think it would have changed. I managed to squeeze it to .98

Nice. Are you happy with where base idle is sitting? If you want to change it remember to set base idle where you want it, then adjust TPS to the new setting.

Base idle is fine. I need to get the right strategy for the tweecer so I can can the speed limiter as it cuts in at 150 now with the gearing change.
edit: looks like I won't be getting that strategy any time soon... will have to disconnect from EEC

Hmm, that should be corrected with the speedo corrector, or you can get the module to remove it. PM 66 coupe, i belive he deals with that stuff. I have a 6DFC here but no 6DFD.

That's ok mate, I have the jaycar speedo corrector unit which will go in when I have time. Just need a quick fix before tomorrow night, so I can take it down the strip.
