G'day,

Ok, my 347 is nearly completed and about to go back into its home under the bonnet for it's run in period. During that Time I still have a few bits to source induction and ignition wise to get her prepped for that day she goes WOT on the dyno. 8-)

At the moment I am thinking 75mm BBK TB and EGR and 90mm MAF and pod filter. As for ignition to suit, im not sure which direction to go in. Can ya give us a few suggestions?

The car will be as follows once it rolls out of the workshop:

BPT stage 2 347 Stroker rebuild with:
SCAT 347 crank,
Crow cam
ARP bolts
Mains Girdle
GT40p heads ported intake/exhaust with valve upgrades 1.98/1.6(?)
Explorer intake manifold with lower intake portmatched to heads,
3" cat back exhaust + extractors
Heavy Duty ceramic clutch
factory ECU with TwEECer

T5 (I know I know  )

Heres what will need to be sorted during run-in:

58mm stock TB
stock MAF
stock ignition

all goin into this:

Any suggestions about where to go would be awes. I'll get more pics of things soon :)

-Steve

You are on the money about the parts that need replacing, for the ignition the factory ignitor is fine. I'd suggest a new cap and rotor (MSD make a nice kit) along with some good leads (MSD, Magnecor etc) and a set of fresh plugs (NGK being our brand of choice).

Don't write off the T5 yet, we have one here that's coping with 490rwhp. ;)

Just wondering what sort of cam is going into the mix? A reasonably Mild one??

I am Using the BPT ignition, screamin demon coil, dynamod ign module and livewire leads. I had to replace it at the time seems to go ok.

Looks to be the goods mate, I know the stroker they did ( in perth street car) made around 330rwhp with a similar build, looks to be the go indeed.

Bet you cant wait. :)

Its reasonably mild... and yeah I cant wait hehe. Biggest worry at the moment is Mr. T5. Anything more than 300rwhp ill be happy with. not really expecting it until I sort induction bits though.

I'd assume it would be a Crow 612371 cam... Its a popular grind for this application

I think the life of the T5 all depends on how you drive it. If you treat her nice when you're driving normally then it should last a while longer. In the states guys are doing hundreds of 12 second passes before their standard t5 goes bang. Although their cars are considerably lighter than ours.

Check these guys out. I think I'll be giving one of these kits a crack. www.gforcetransmissions.com

before you put alot of money into one of those american t5 rebuild kit i suggest you make sure that it will fit our Australian made T5s. I am currently looking at buying one for my car but cant justify myself spending 2500$ and finding out that it doesnt fit into my gearbox.

isn't the $2500 for the whole T5, and why wouldn't that fit ? obviously drive shaft and gear shift will be different for aussie cars but it will be just standard OEM parts from a wrecker or new from ford.

a question though. for an AU XR8. would the ECU need to be changed or are the auto and man the same.

2500 is for a rebuild kit that will handle almost any power you throw at it and only includes strengthened gears, alloy mainshaft, synchros and bearings. im just not sure if the front and rear shaft lengths are the same or different to the mustang T5s.

I wouldnt trust a rebuild kit to be too much stronger anyhow. Better to just spend a lil bit more and go a TKO.
