Thanks for that Pete.

Yeah I know you would...it's other people that are the problem.
I think the ideal way for an AU would be to use a high quality aftermarket E-series type balancer and machine up a special setback(and underdriven of course) pulley for the correct AU alignment.

Agreed. Leon had one made up for his own TE but that was nearly $1000 all up buy the time everyone had f**k about with it!

will keep a close eye on this as im guessing it would be the same as wat my bro wants to do with his ute. would there be much difference between the auto and manual?

Depends what manual. If it's a T5 from a Falcon with the left hand starter you'll either have to stay with the stock shorty headers or make custom or modify X-series aftermarket headers for the left hand side.
If it's a right hand starter type trans, off-the-shelf headers for X-series will bolt straight on.
For my column auto I'll have to make a cable linkage because the V8 BTR bellhousing has no mounting for the shifter linkage....no V8's were available with column auto y'see. I was going to do this anyway because the mech linkage is a sloppy piece of crap.

Sounds like he made it hard for himself because.....
XF/G don't have a K-frame and all you do is use XA-XE V8 mounts.
XH uses a K-frame that is the same whether 6 or 8 cyl...you just need the V8 mounts again.
I replied to your post about the auto on perthfalcs.

very detailed, wish i had this when i did the conversion in my xg ute.
I am yet to finish my a/c and i have a major leak with my power steering which leads to my next question.

i have the pully tool and am looking at removing the powersteerpump and modding it like yours.does the pump come apart easy (i want to replace seals and bearings)and attach a fitting to the low pressure as you have done(i think most of my leaks have come from there)

any advise before i tackle this

The resevoir comes off without the need to remove the pump. I think I had more detail about this in my 351w into XE post.

I don't. ....See how f**k long it's taking!?!
Yeah probably Tony does excellent work without tearing you a new one.
I'm throwing in a stocky BTR for the moment. If and when  I need a tougher one I'll be talking to ya.

Cheers,
Pete.

Ok I pulled the engine out again so I could bolt up the auto and put the whole thing in together.

Image

As I mentioned previously, there was never a column auto 5.0L Falcon available so there was no reason for the shift bracket boss to be cast into the bellhousing as you can see here. I'll be making a cable setup for it instead.

Image

No EGR so no coolant lines needed....here's the plug you'll need to fill the hole in the intake.

Image

Tomorrow I should have some more about the trans crossmember which doesn't actually fit.
