Ah interesting, so very much, i have to have all safety features, that were used in whatever the car, the engine came from, would that include things like airbags, or not that far?
seatbelts, what a spoil sport. haha, yeah mine has the 2 sp auto, no clutch issues maybe, but... yeah and 300 sounds more like it, not 40k? like fair enough, if your going to town or getting it done, but if you plan to do it a little on the cheap side, e.g. do as much yourself as possible. Also If I was to do a delivery conversion, could I pretty much just do it, as by right, there no real way to prove it wasn't?

If you can swing spanners & work on your car yourself, These things are dead easy to convert.Buy a engine & transmission crossmember kit from Castlemaine rod shop & it all bolts together. I pulled the original running gear out of my ute on a Friday arvo after work, And by lunchtime Sunday, I had it running with the 289 & column shifted C4, LSD, disc brakes etc - But i had everything ready & waiting (The shortened tailshaft, modified LS Centura diff, accelerator linkage, etc)
Your XL is basically an imported American car that had came standard with a 260 - 289 in the USA. Dunno about the Van conversion - Have a talk to a panelbeater & a vehicle engineer first to see if you will be able to get it registed. I have seen a XP wagon/van conversion rego'd - But that was in NSW. If you go & see QLD roads authority, They will have a list of approved engineers that you can talk to about your planned modifications. |

Have a look at this - This guy has a factory US 2 door V8 wagon that he's putting an EA 3.9 & BTR auto that he imported from Australia for it. He's converted the 3.9 to a carby and is running full airbag suspension etc. It would be pretty good if you could do the same to yours! |

www.classicinlines.com/ - Here's 2 more to look at. Both have a good section on early falcons from Australia & the USA. In one of them, It shows an XP wagon in England that someone had fitted a 2.0 litre out of a Cortina to it! |
