August 2014

An unloved V8 Fairmont came into the workshop running like s**t, buggered radiator and windows that wouldn't go up or down. The owner was a local business owner that had the car for years and years but had parked it up after buying a couple of later model cars.
She was rusty and needed a decent amount of coin spent on her to be a: Reliable and B: pass the strict Warrent of fitness standards here in NZ.
The customer didn't think it was worth his while spending money on it so I offered him a cheeky 2 grand for it.....
I now own the car.
Here are a couple of pics of when I gave her the first going over before I struck the deal

I got her cleaned up, running nice with no coolant loss, gave her some noise courtesy of no cats (legal in NZ) and a flowmaster muffler, repaired all the rust and got her legal. She also got the SVOETA personalised plates slapped on.

Gave her a few personal touches, skull door lock poppers, wing mirror adjuster, removed spoiler, added a pod filter and stainless intake pipe

Also managed to get the engine cover/hot plate from the previous owner

Time went by and I chucked the spoiler back on and lowered her into the weeds a little

I also bought some black plastidip and painted the wheels, chrome garnish on the boot and the grille

I decided the grille looked s**t so the plastdip got peeled off. I dyed some interior pieces black as woodgrain and grey doesn't rock my world.

And that brings us up to now.

I have missed out a few things as there aren't any pics. I ran a cold air intake from the bumper vents up into the airbox which I am running a pod filter in. The usual new brembo rotors and new pads all round, new spark plugs. New number plate. Subs and amp etc etc

I have taken the wheels back to the shadow chrome and lowered the front a little more so the height is more even.

Current look

Still a work in progress but I love the old girl

Cheers for the kind words dude.

Had a little progress. Replaced the coolant expansion tank. Carried out a trans flush at work, cleaned IACV and EGR as well as engine oil and filter change. We just got a smoke machine at work so chucked that on and found a couple of leaks that I will investigate further when I have more time but due to working 65hrs p/w and this being my daily I can't really achieve a lot with one day off.

I also acquired a bonnet to graft a BA bulge on to.
The bonnet was a little rough as to be expected so out with the panel hammers, bondy and primer.

Anyway whats an upate without progress pics
