Got sucked into Ford transits (next stage of the british fords disease after escorts apparantly)
Started with a 71 cab chassis that turned out to have terminal chassis rust - got it from the sticks near ballarat: Attachment: Dscf8762.jpg Attachment: DSC_0241.jpg So i kept the good cab parts and binned most of the chassis (these are unitary not ladder) Then i bought a 77 with some cab rust and a good chassis (with some spare doors and a another rusty cab) - got this one from a paddock in S.A. Attachment: DSC_0303.jpg i have started the rust repairs - mostly in the roof and some minor stuff around the front wheelarches Attachment: DSC_0314.jpg Attachment: DSC_0315.jpg Attachment: DSC_0316.jpg Attachment: DSC_0320.jpg plans are (in stages so RWC and rego doesnt become a problem): Cab extension - around 320mm added to become a spacecab (will be done with the roof replacement) Chassis extension by around 1m and a beavertail style tray added (after rego) change back to early style flat front (the bullnose one is ugly) will end up running a late 250 crossflow and a 4spd auto, will not be running any computers so its a carby and an A4LD/AOD in all likelyhood. Will fit vented front discs (retaining 4 pot calipers it already has. i am being very carefull to keep mods minimal and mild so rego doesnt become a problem on this build as i dont need another MK2 Cortina style build failure. got the roof ready to weld on and the cab extension partially done. I am mulling over whether i should do the chassis extension now or leave it till after rego, as i believe the final product will be stronger if it is done together.

Got the other cab rear bulkhead/roof trimmed up and sitting on the lorry so i can get solid measurements for the pieces i need to get cut/folded to fill it in.

i have been chipping away at this project slowly while working and doing some wrecking to pay for it, i bought another transit (with much less rust than mine, but too late now) it has given up a lot of good parts to my project, such as new radiator, diff/brakes and reconditioned heavy duty steering box, and will be useful for rust repair sections.
Attachment: resized.jpg Today i picked up a reconditioned 200Ci crossflow (to replace the current precrossflow) and a T5 manual box to go behind it, and sunday i am getting an XF 5spd bellhousing to join the two. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

If I recall correctly.....the Poms didn't get an inline 6....????.....they got the V4, 2.0 litre, yeah?...on the later square shape ones?....remembering from when I was a kid.

Why not use a 250 instead of the 200 ???.........or is it a case of you already have a 200 ??? I know in Oz we had 6 cyl ones anyway. We I was a kid, I knew a bloke who was fitting a 250 into one.....IIRC, they reversed the 'K' frame....?????...to fit the donk.
