"Caveat emptor" (buyer beware) after months and months of searching i finally found what i thought was a bargain! "F100 4x4 conversion project - rust free mostly completed" was the add. well it was rust free because he cut all the rust out, however he failed to mention that he didnt put any metal back in & simply fiber glassed over the top!, he fiber glassed over brake lines (after cutting the brake lines), hoses, connections, holes for connections, he took out the windscreen wiper motor and fiber glassed over the hole (wtf?) the funny thing is though that there is no signs of it being in an accident or excessive rust he's just gone on a mad fiber glassing spree for some reason! the rest of the truck is 100% it's just that the engine bay has a few simple fixes but the former owner has stripped it bare and fiber glassed it up ???
anyway, the bodywork won't pose a problem i'm very confident with that, but i will have to run new wires for the engine, i also need to replace the ignition and electrical work is not my thing! pics so far! How it looked in the add they turned up from South Australia Prep work; uncovering dodgy rust repair! with that last pic, this was after i got rid of all the fiber glass from the top and got rid of the stuffed windshield wiper grill thing, i got the spares from the bronco which were in good order. next on the short term list is to; strip the rest of the engine bay, so i can find out the extent of the "repairs" remove dash so i can actually weld the holes up instead of fiber glassing over them (then fiber glassing the rest of the engine bay to conceal it) run new engine bay wires for engine and accessories (will need mucho help!) swap in new brake lines btw the Bronco is a lot worst then what it looks, only good for spares and it's 4x4 parts!

i stripped out the interior of the F100 which actually wasn't that hard and this is what i found.
all this without the help of the Haynes manual which so far has been ZERO help! doesn't look so bad? HA keep watching! knocked out the bog and figured out why he went on a mad fiber-glassing spree! this doesnt phase me, im pretty good with a welder and now the inerior is out it shouldn't be that hard to weld in some new metal. close up of the center hole!

ok, it's been a while because ive been busy doing other things but i have finally got the cab stripped & ready for welding! i also have the dash/electrics/AC from the bronco parts car stripped (more or less) and they are ready to be transferred over to the F100. after i weld up all the rust holes i have then drill new holes to run the AC lines through then paint the engine bay!
the guts i pulled out of it Ready for welding! i know everyone is waiting for the main event of swapping the actual 4x4 system over - don't worry thats coming! i just want the cab & the electrics sorted first!

DOHCED wrote: Awesome stuff man, what's the plan though, ba engine only or suspension and interior also? haha nah nothing that grand because im quickly running out of money! ive got a built clevo engine ready to go, as for the interior. ive grabbed the XLT dash and sports cluster from the bronco and all it's wiring so im putting that in (F100 Custom to F100 XLT) then i'll "splurge" a little bit on new carpet and re-trimming the door panels & get some sheep skin seat covers for the seat, so it will be comfortable, practical & classy! but atm i need the money to re-build the front diff, which i have sent away for inspection/rebuild. i just have a little more welding to do on the firewall then i'll post up some more pics!

ok lots have been done & it's almost at the stage where i can start putting it all back together!, front diff has been rebuilt & installed & the firewall has been painted in it's final color! (panther black pearl)
rebuilt 'TTB' front diff front end completely removed ready for a new diff new diff installed Frame was also painted firewall in it's final color! im going to have to do a little touch up on the firewall paint, i was to eager to get it done that i missed a few areas that i forgot to sand. the brakes still need to be fitted but first they need to be rebuilt as they were full of crap! then i just need to fit the engine/gearbox/transfer case and THEN i can start putting the interior back together! it's been a long haul but at least i can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, i just hope it's not a train!

been a while but things are slowly coming along, i got the tray sanded back ready for a coat of primer filler & let me say it put up one hell of a fight! it killed the sander before i could do the rest of the cab! doors, bonnet, tailgate, front guards will be removed and sent for sand blasting in the next few weeks. Christmas hit me fairly hard so i gotta save some more cash before i start on anything else.
here's a sampler of how it was a week ago and i thought painting was going to be the easy part lol

long time since last post but i have been busy! i pulled out the seats and prepped the floor for some protection! i also clean/prepped the underside & sprayed it up with some stone guard, ive stripped the rest of the paint from the rest of the car and it's ready for some primer!
there has been a bit of a setback, i took the doors off to go get them sand blasted so i wasn't there all day sanding, and unfortunately one of the doors was crap and another replacement door will set me back around $600, but at least the bulk of it's getting done. PICS!!

update! i couldn't afford the $600 for a new door so i repaired the old one *note to self, buy a better mig welder!!!!* but at least it's repaired
repaired door fitted front guards fitted and prepped temporarily fitted the front to try and decided whether or not to black out the chrome at them moment im leaning towards leaving the chrome, but the primer/filler will be on soon

all primed up & ready to be block sanded! there is a couple of areas that need attention because of typical amateur mistakes (runs, etc) but on the whole it wasn't a bad job!
just gonna take a few weeks to sand it properly and touch up the primer in a few areas.
