Hi all, I'm just about to start my build. I got a rare mk11 nissan gazelle and wanted something special in it, so i decided to buy a boss260 with 6speed gearbox. going to be an interesting build as i havent heard of anyone putting a v8 into 1 of these cars. I'm gonna need help with a ecu layout so i can rewire it into my car. so if anyone has any info that would help me with this build and running of the motor, it would be greatly appreciated. i'll try to update as much as possible. thanks to everyone.

I would very much doubt it will fit unless you are going to mid engine it.

FJ20 whilst it is the god of Jap 4 bangers is now days way too old and expensive to get in the first place and to get parts for.
CA18's are fast going the same way.
A boss will make it a terrible handling front heavy pig.
Also it will be WAY too wide to fit in the engine bay.
A Nissan Infinity V8 would be a better choice but again width is a concern.
Check with an engineer before you lift a spanner. I highly doubt a boss will get through due to the engine capacity to car weight ruling.
SR20 turbo would be my choice for it. Bulk power and it will keep the cars handling characteristics.

agreed with the fj20 as they are old and its not a god in the jap 4banger seen. i already own a nissan gazelle with a ca18det in it and does 13.9 all day running with everything standard and 13psi boost. unless the boss 260 is a bigger motor in actual size then a ls3, it wont fit as people in the states are putting ls3 into them without a problem. gazelle's have bigger engine bays then commodores last time i checked. a common motor upgrades are ca18det, sr20det, vg30dett as gazelles also came out with vg30's in them, rb20det, rb25det and the rb26dett. i want something different then those and want something that has balls plus i also have been told that a boss 260 +gearbox is lighter then a rb20/25det +gearbox. so thats another reason i want it in. i talked to a engineer about my mods im going to do and he said i should be able to pass without a problem as he puts ls3's into 3 series bmw's.

Boss engines are massive, way bigger than LS engines.

A T56 weighs about 75kgs. They say the engine is heavier than a 6 cylinder falcon motor and they arent exactly light weight.

An LS engine and 6 speed will be cheaper, smaller and make more power.

if your going to shovel money into this you could always rebuild the boss 260 using an alloy block from BPT http://www.bptmotorsport.com/. it should end up lighter than most iron blocked 6's such as the VG30

If you've already got the motor, you should have a fair idea if it will fit or not.

Better than any of us anyway. lol

Good luck with, we dont see enough projects like this on here.

S12s with fj20 go hard tho.
Also did you say s12s have more engine space then commodores? Kidding. You can fit you're body infront of the engine in vrs ect.

ok, i pulled the motor and gearbox out yesterday of the front cut i got. i'm going to try and dummy fit it today (1/5/2010) or tomorrow on my rdo. done some quike measuring and it looks like its 70mm longer then the ca18det i got in my daily gazelle. i should have about 50mm on either side between the heads and my strut towers. gear lever is going to sit approx 90mm further then the stock position. going to give the gearbox tunnel a little lovin with my rubber mullet if the starter motor doesnt sit in there properly. other then that. time will tell with the dummy fit.

Wow, I would not have thought I would see that. Good work so far, how does the exhaust and steering look?
