I have in the past few months been thinking of building up my NC Fairlane, with a few generic modifications here and there I decided to go all the way.

It started Late last year with the purchase of my current NC II Lane, after I wrote off my last Lane.


Since I have thrown on my 2.5" catback exhaust, re-lit my dash, full sound system with a custom box (I made myself), shift kit (also done by myself thanks to ford mods), thrown my 16" ROH SP rims on it.

Still to come that are currently sitting in my room are, Pacemaker extractors, Pedders sports rider shocks and springs.

Future modifications,
Engine/Driveline
Camtech Camshaft, 2250rpm stall converter, Improve the intake possibly porting the head and upgrading from a log intake to the bbm and ofcourse a pod filter, In the future when I get my open license supercharge/Turbo or V8 I havn't quite decided. In that case a strengthened tailshaft with billet uni joints is also possible, I still havn't settled on what diff ratios I want so some more researching is in the needed. Back to the bottom end, all depending on whether I upgrade to a V8 or not I may invest in an engineered crankshaft with forged pistons and stronger con rods to balanced the engine with a dyno tune and flash my chiptorque chip that I have recently purchased also. All of this is all to improve my torque and in result my power dramatically.

Interior
Full re-trim in off-white or buttermilk with burgundy inserts and highlights to match the future paintjob, customise the dash, bucket seats in the front (not sparco, more along the lines of the FG GT-P style).

Exterior
House of colours Shimrin Burgundy, Dark tint, LTD GRILLE, touch up the plastic that often fades with the NC fairlanes, touch up the chrome also.

Wheels/Brakes/Suspension
Possibly 18"-20" (haven't settled yet) Diablo Elite Rims
if i can some how fit them or similar styled rims. Upgrade brakes, throw in my pedders suspension.

Miscellaneous
Upgrade all fuel lines, new radiator overflow bottle and lines and a few little things when I come accross them.

I am not expecting to finish this in the next 2 months as some may presume I think because I am young, but I am willing to put the time and effort into this build as I am not interested in commodores, ricers, lancers or excels as my fellow generation y's commonly "supe up" as I am a second year mechanical engineering student and I have been brought up in an engine bay thanks to my father and mother (mainly father) so please, do not judge me if I make a few mistakes as I am also learning however I do want to do it properly so as I said, I know it won't take me 2 months but so far I have been pouring money into it so I can get it finished within the next couple of years.

Alright tomorrow I am going to start glassing the centre console (switchboard, shifter surround and the front bucket) all into one piece. I am going to make the shifter surround thinner so it looks like the fg shifter surround and get a boot made up when I get the interior re-upholstered with a newer shifter. I am going to also mould 3 gauge mounts for oil temp, pressure and water temp. I am also going to fibreglass over the bucket just in front of the centre console lid and re-locate my power/economy switch and shift kit switch to. Pictures will be up tomorrow night,

Nice car Dude!!

I've owned my Fairlane for the past 2 years now and have done work on her here & there...plus dropped in an EL XR6 Tickford engine - fully reconditioned!

Its great to see some young people really appreciate semi-old cars...lol.

If you need any info or tips about repairs, or whatever just let me know. i've pretty much studied my NC II Fairlane inside & out!!

Thanks for all the support guys. I havn't been on in a while and an update is required.
This is what she looks like with my 16" ROH's on,


1. I put together an intake so I could fit a POD in. EL box and throttle body pipe, XH snorkel, silicone plumbing, sikaflex and a K&N 3" POD. The snorkel sits a little off, so I am going to do some cutting and shutting to make it sit right.





2. Some wanker reversed into me the other week and the Fairlady is going into the panel beaters to be fixed within the next couple of weeks.
3. I sourced and installed an LTD grille (photos up after I get her fixed)

Now, I have had a pretty long thought about it and I am not going to go insane with the interior, I am going to fibreglass some of it and then clean up the rest that's it. I am going to fix up the paint and body not full re-spray and I am going to keep the six. This was decided on after having a long talk with my father and realizing I should save up after I fix her up a little for a newer car which I am going to, and the new car will be a FG XR6 TURBO . However, I am going to stay true and finish what I started and make it a sick ride and one tank of a head turner that will burn fully sick lo-luxes, excels, lancers and of course commodores

why did you use a EF/L top box and not just a EA-D style?

The EA-ED airbox lid is smaller than the EF/EL's airbox lid, like have the width and depth.

Dont skimp out on time. Spend as much time as you possibly can when you do something, and do it PERFECT. Clean up that airbox and use your fiberglass skills to make it look nicer. Also look into getting air from somewhere else as the stock snorkel are sh*thouse. I dont think even i could breath through that thing lol

Fair enough, I think I am sucking a d**k load of hot air still and I think it is strangled still to because I am getting 13.6L/100 km average where I was getting 12.0 before, so I am going to relocate the POD like dsyfer did,
