decided to start a thread detailing the rebuild of my NL lane
bought it from a car yard in sydney almost a month ago, got it for a reasonable price w 8 mths rego / roady / 12mth warranty. its currently stock as, apart from the self levelling system being removed and had pedders spring / shocks put in the a*** end. within the next 2 weeks im planning on having the following done - pedders sports ryder suspension - pedders steering rack / pump / hose - genuine 17x8.5" ELGT wheels - windows retinted darker than what they are now - pacemaker comp headers, high flow cat, mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust - DBA cross drilled / slotted rotors, bendix ultimates - front / rear bearing - upgraded air intake ( not sure what yet, open to suggestions!! ) the misus has given me 10k to play with, at this stage ( YIPPEE!! ) so want to get as much done as possible for that ammount, without skimping on quality. if anyone has any suggestions or can recommend any good places to get work done or supply of parts, feel free to comment. cheers mick |

thanks boxcar. i bought it over the phone, off the net pretty much and they were the pics they yard had of it. they failed to mention a couple things like the LED screens werent visable ( fixed ) a couple trim pieces were broken ( fixed ) has a rust hole left side sill panel and the paint has alot of scratches in it, only noticeable if ya look close. the steering rack and a couple front bushes are cactus as are the front rotors which have "hot spots" in them and shake like hell when ya brake heavily.
to me minor things really, easily fixed. |

upgraded intake:: just get a EL GT snorkel(no need to drill holes etc, direct fit as per EL GT V8 falcons) and a high flow panel filter either K&N or FRAM airhog. That setup will be good upto 140RWKW. NICE car, love the interior.......

Nice looking Lane.
I take it is a 4L as you have posted this in the 6 Cylinder Workshop forum. I am assuming it has the Tickford Engine and Running Gear. If so, it should have the 3.45 LSD diff, and the Tickford engine. These are easy to check, and if they are fitted, you are most of the way there. As for performance, without using boost, there are a few things you can do to improve the performance. Are you keeping the Auto? A manual conversion will wake the big girl up nicely and can be done for well under 1k. Once you have decided on what transmission you want to use, then you can consider some camshaft options, which are usually limited by the transmission. If you want to keep the auto, but would like a big cam, run a High Stall Torque Convertor. Once a cam is done, get a J3 chip programmed to suit. Obtain a non tickford head, and have it ported and polished, fitted with larger valves and better valve springs and a bit shaved off to raise the compression. As for the air intake, for legal reasons you should keep the air box, add in a larger intake scoop, find an EF air box lid, and then have a 3" mandrel bent air intake pipe made up. There is a few suggestions for you. Cheers BenJ

Nah I dont think it will have the tickford motor if it is a 4L because it is not the concorde?

Well, then the first obvious/cheapest steps are to source a tickford head, or do the full head build up. The blocks etc are the same.
A diff from an XR should be easy to find and fit, or if staying with an auto consider having an LSD diff built with 3.7 to 4.11 gears. Cheers BenJ
