Hey guys, I bought this XH about 2 years ago from a builder, it came with the hard top on, lowered, had some rancid looking 17's on it and came with the BA short shifter installed with 200,000 on the clock, picked it up for about 6,000 I believe.

Haven't had any problems with it mechanically apart from an Xtreme Heavy Duty clutch which tore my pedal box apart.

With all that sorted im hoping to do a complete change of the interior including a cabin extension for more room for the audio system, Leather interior and anything else i think of along the way.

Possible plans for the exterior:
Boss hump on hood.
Fibre glass hard top.
Updated rims
Custom rear bumper for twin exhaust
Possibly new front bumper (Typhoon or GT style) or i may keep it completely stock!

As for the engine, im limited to what I can do as im on my P's

Any idea's or recommendations as to what I can do will be a great help.

Cheers, Bone

Good to see another XH getting the cut and tuck. 8-)

If I can help in any way, post away and I will answer as best as I can.
Good luck with it. :D

Alrighty,

Thanks Sooty and Ash.

First thing im wondering about is the materials needed. I've seen this done with just standard carpet applied but i'd like to line mine with this black leather i found at spotlight while i was re-trimming a mates car. (As i'll be doing my whole interior in black and white leather)

First idea's that pop into my head:

I want some speakers behind the seats similar to where Ash had put his. as well as 2 subs.
i currently have 1 sub in a slim box for behind the passenger seat but as any1 with an XH would know, have a sub behind any seat brings the seat forward a fair bit and being such a small cab this makes it quiet uncomfortable (Especially when your 6foot or taller)

Would also like to put some form of storage behind the seats (in the center area, making easy access) Similar to the BA/BF utes, also the AU's
Although i dont really like the net look that they had, so any idea's there would be great!

Now im not the best at photoshop and editing pics on my comp as its a new computer so ill try and draw something up to give you a rough idea (a little bit skilled at drawing 8-) )

If any1 else has some ideas or advice its more than welcome

cheers, Bone

As far as trim goes, maybe make a false panel, like a door trim, and upholster that, and attach it with clips???

As far as storage bins go, you could make something behind the drivers seat, as there is loads of room back there. The passengers side has the fuel tank in the way, so unless you go straight LPG (like Ash) or move the fuel tank (big job) your kind stuck with it.

Subs.... no idea, dont need one myself, so never put too much thought into it. Maybe behind the drivers seat?

Are you going to use this ute as a ute? Or will it be a show/cruise car, with nothing in the back, EVER? If you are going to use it as a ute, you will need to keep everything inside the cab, but if you go for the show scene, you can make a sub box/bin in the back, ported into the cab, maybe :?

You need to remove the front section of ute floor, and have a good look at the room available, etc, before you get too carried away.

well its kind of a mix of both, its my daily at the moment but im gonna start guttin it and taking a good look at what i have to work with. i only take the hard top off when im going riding and taking the bikes out. other than that it's mainly got clothes and s**t in the back lol.
mainly want to do this to show how exactly it is done incase other want to give it a shot. but the other main reason for doing this is to upgrade the stereo and keep it all behind the seats without losing any room up front.

Basically similar to your one Sooty but with a custom sub box in the back

Here's a quick scribble of something maybe put the amp in between the 2 subs or could hollow it out int he middle and make a small storage area for Melways, service book etc etc...

ahhh ok lol

i got mine of a builder, he was only the 2nd owner and so far the only problems I've found are the tail gate had been smashed with bits of timber from his apprentice sliding them onto the trailer and the heavy duty clutch he put it 1km b4 he sold it to me, i was unaware of the pedal box being weak so hopefully i wont run into too many problems.

As for when i pull out the um... "backboard" thing behind the seats will there be alot of cutting and or welding involved?

haha yeah i noticed that. your job is insane!

I dont think ill be doing the whole storage in the back where the fuel tank was just cabin area!

but what you did was unreal! wish i had the skills and creativity to do that! :D

Yeah, it all comes down to what you want to use it for. That sub box looks OK, but it will have to sit above the tray floor height, as you do not gain any room below this level. Unless you move the fuel tank.

My rear panel was all cut out in one piece, trimmed to fit, and glued back in, so no welding required, if thats what you want to do. Depends what you want to gain from the job, etc, etc. Mine was purely for extra leg/gut room, the extra storage room is a bonus. Makes it a lot more comfortable to drive, especially if your a big guy. Like me. 8-)

I'm hoping we might be doing another cab extension on an XH for a mate, so if it goes ahead, I will get a s**t load of pics, and do a tech doco. Fingers crossed.

Over Christmas i mum said she'd get me some things for my car ( was hoping for the horn pad for my new steering wheel but got a tomtom lol and these floor mats which i think are a pissa  Money well spent mum :P

Also cleaned up the center console and fitted new leather boot around the shifter. IMO looks sooo much better than the stock center console, so outdated.

Also wondering about this seal looking thing around the rear windscreen. i have a new one in much better condition.

however the one that is on the new plastic gaurd is damaged from when i removed it from the other ute.

Does any1 know where i can get the piece of rubber that goes between the gaurd and the roof/cabin?

Ford didnt have answers for me, neither did bursons or repco

Agreed. and really easy to get in. i think the main motivation for that 1 was finally having cup holders and not having to place my drinks in the compartment and shove a beanie down the side to prevent it from tipping over
