yet another addition to my pile of garage threads. lol

i bought an EB Fairmont this week for the sum of $130.

its got 335,000km on it but still drives really nicely, even if the engine is quite gutless.

its got the ol' wind-blew-the-door-open-into-the-guard damage on the right hand side, but its nothing that cant be fixed i suppose.

all the electrics work on it, climate control works good, trip comp works good, dash etc. even the lights on the outer door handles still work!

so yeah, il pretty much drive this around and let the rego run out on the Ghia, and fix all the s**t thats wrong on the EL. and thats a lot of s**t.

i'll get up a picture if i can find one on my phone.

lol, whos got an EB steering rack for me?

was cruising round last night, pulled up next to one of my friends... told him to try and turn the wheel (has no P/S at the moment + 17's) so the d**k grabbed the wheel with both hands (he was standing outside) and gave the wheel the yank of his life. SNAP! oh f**k....

so basically, driving it the 3km home was a f**k nightmare  doing a 5 point turn at every corner cos the steering wheel had to be turned verry gently, otherwise itd slip, the steering wheel would go round and round and round and round but the road wheels wouldnt  ended up banging over a couple of median strips and reversing off to get straight again, im pretty sure the EB is now marked as a drunk drivers car from that

so yeah, that was my wednesday night, how was yours? :P

fixed it.... the bolt that holds the column to the steering rack sheared off and stripped the thread  so i just dodged it up for now with another bolt and nut..... good as new!

Cool.

I am surprised that it broke there, but at least it was an easy fix.

Cheers

i think the fact ive been drivin round with no power steering for 3 months mightve done it, and the rack is 19 years and 337,000km old... lots of highway and dirt driving.
