Whilst my ute isn't a project in the same vein as the other couple I have done it's still been done up a bit. Difference is that I started this one with something that didn't need anything other than what I wanted .











The last pic was actually taken by a professional when the ute was in RM Williams Utes Annual this year.
Two weeks and it comes off the road for a new/rebuilt motor, replacement gearbox, rebuilt diff, power steering replaced, broadband manifold swap and a new pair of seats. It will also get a complete respray (same color though).

I don't know why, but for some reason, I actually like your ute The Dog.

Usually, I would LOL at a bullbar that big, but, on this occassion, I think the whole package actually comes together well.

I am not a "Saddle Fr*gger" ute man but I love this one as BenJ said.

Theres another thread here on the stereo I put in it. Not sure how up to date it is but I'll find that and link it. I'll also have to get some photos of the tray too as that is decked out.
Nobody has picked up on the bodge job coil fitment I had when that photo was taken. . Was just enough to dig me out of the s**t, later on I shifted a decent coil into the aluminium air box.

The size of the bar has actually saved the ute from very serious damage once and minor damage twice. The minor stuff was from a couple of suicidal roos. The other was a Mazda 626 that stopped for an orange light that I didn't want to. Final result was a very second hand Mazda to the tune of about $3500 in damages and a few minor scratches on the bullbar.

Poor old girl has been sitting out the back waiting for a heartbeat
Dug it out yesterday as the new engine will be here this weekend. Extractors will also be acquired.

Now for the tantrum:
Cops here have lost the plot. Missus got warned the other day about our car being too low. Yeah fair enuf, I know it's too low, but the suspension has actually been engineered that way. Not like the d***head in the commodores around here with cut springs and stockies on the back.....hmmmmmm....what do you reckon they've been doin, but no we pick on the 35 year old with three kids.
To top it off, theyve now decided that lights on roll bars are illegal. Friend got fined the other day for having them there. Now if these lights are so damned dangerous and the world will come to an end if they're fitted there why wasn't the vehicle defected?
I rang Transport SA and their argument is that the reflect off the bonnet back into the drivers eyes. I then asked the guy to have a think about his statement. He responded by saying what do you mean. Well, the bonnet on a car slopes away from you doesn't it. So the only way those lights are going to reflect back into my eyes is if the bonnet is open.....and I reckon that I've got bigger problems than the lights reflecting back into my eyes if that's the case.
Then my Father, who also has 2 sets of Lightforce Spotlights across the top of his Navara actually employed a solicitor to chase this up.
The results are as below:(these are straight out of the South Australian Consolidated Regulations))

ROAD TRAFFIC (VEHICLE STANDARDS) RULES 1999 - REG 80

80—How additional headlights are to be fitted

If 2 or more additional headlights are fitted to a motor vehicle with 4 or more wheels, the additional headlights must as far as possible be fitted in pairs.

Now the one that is a problem:

ROAD TRAFFIC (VEHICLE STANDARDS) RULES 1999 - REG 81

81—Performance of headlights

(1) When on, a headlight, or additional headlight, fitted to a vehicle must:

(a) show only white light; and

(b) project its main beam of light ahead of the vehicle.

(2) Headlights must be fitted to a vehicle so their light does not reflect off the vehicle into the driver's eyes.

It's the bottom one that is an issue cos that leaves it open to a cops interpretation.

Anyway end rant....on this point.

It's been that way in NSW for years.

And it is the light reflecting off the bonnet into other drivers eyes that is the issue, not your eyes.

Not that you would have them on when they are that close.

Good luck, but I don't think you will get very far.
