Hi Guys, I'm new to the site, thought I would add my car to the garage and maybe get a sugestion or two. I'll try and keep it short.
Had this AU for about 5 years now, I bought it not running off ebay with a bunch of reciepts totalling around 5k for rebiult engine and trans, got it home put a new gas converter on it and off it went, since then I put in a reco diff, I replaced springs struts hubs rotors all round also so many interior and extirior parts I cant remember them all, had nolathane put though whole front end, then i used it for a work car for 4 years whilst I concentrated on some other toys, For some reason I decided to buy a supercar body kit and it has spawned from there, Now it has S1 bonnet to match bodykit - S1 boot garnish - BAXR6T wing - BF 18's - clear repeaters - coulor coded door molds - cold air intake - airbox restriction removed - 3inch intake pipe and bends - extractors - 3inch highflow cat - 2 3/4 inch mandrell exhaust with only one muffler, other stuff I'm in doing right now is preping a TS50 rear bar and awaiting delivery of a S1 bonnet with boss bulge so I can paint them and thats about it for cosmetics and maybe colour coded mirrors, anyway this is a factory gas i6 with green rocker cover, I have tried removing the factory throttle body and replacing it with a petrol one and aftermarket mixer with a 9mm larger venturi even after a gas tune and ecu reset the car did not like it, gave considerably more power but idle and gear changes and consistency was crap so back to original setup now . Does anyone know of a factory gas AU producing a half decent amount of power? , right now I'm thinking pull the i6 out and putting in a spare 1JZGTE I have for another toy ( does anyone know if this has been done before?) I have been told I will have to cut the trans tunnel for the 1J box, The other simpler thing I was thinking was to put in BAXR6T motor and box which would save time and money, people are putting BAXR6T motors in everything now even a VL I know about, I will try and get around to taking more pics soon. well anyone have any suggestions as to which path I should head down ??? The xr6t motor will require less fabricating work.

1JZ's have been put into all sorts of cars.
It shouldn't be any worse then putting a BA engine in except for the mounts. why would you have to cut the trans tunnel?

1Js are a common conversion now, the auto trans for the 1J is out of a jzz30 soarer and is a lot larger than than whats in there now, I had an engineer friend of mine look at it and we took some
measurements and it came down to cutting the tunnel or the k frame and thats after modifying the sump, also the wiring will be a nightmare, it would be handy if is been done before save me a lot of headaces and I wouldnt be so hesitant, I been looking around and found an AU with BA motor in it still running AU wiring loom and bugger all fabrication making 335rwkw, starting to sway towards keeping it all Ford, know anyone looking for a 1J lol |

Now you say its a Series 2?? I thought Series 2 on Factory LPG was dedicated LPG unlike the Series 1 that had Duel Fuel....

sorry mate, it is a S2 with dedicated gas and the 2 scooba tanks where the petrol tank should be,
but I put a zavoli converter on it, what kind of money would gas injection cost and what kinda gain would I get, thanks |

Its a pain in the rectum for us Egas Owners but they weren't designed to be grunty but cheap to run....... You can chuck any engine in you want but it will still be the same..... My advise is sell it and buy a Duel Fuel or petrol model if you want power..... At the end of the day tho there isnt much in it, I have dragged another BA (ULP model) up to 100kmh and there was only 3/4 of a car length in it.... Both mine and the other one was stock.... Enjoy the cheap cruising or buy a different car.... simple

sorry for the confusion, the car would be converted to petrol if I do an engine swap, well I thought
there wasnt much I could do with dedicated gas, looks like I will research BAXR6T engine in to AU, if anyone has any links would be apreciated, thanks in advance. |

havnt really concidered it, I been playing with turbos for long time and wanna stick with what I know to make things easier, I'm pretty keen on using a BAXR6T long motor with some goodies on it.
