Hey Thought I'd through my car up now that it is finally through stage1 ( ie gettin the turbo on and tuned ).
Bought the car for $13000 bought some 19" XHP chrome Jets and dunlop sport max tyres on the front and Maxis MAZ1 on the back $2500.
Next up was the snort performance stage 4 turbo kit $4000, 3" mild steel exhaust, 3" stainless intercooler piping, fitting turbo and plumbing it all together $2300.
Then we went on to tuning (f**K) the car had a haltec interceptor fitted to it,
I was told it wouldn't do the job so they pulled it out and fitted a haltec E6X.
Tuning took six weeks because of warped manifolds frying coil packs, don't know if they new what they were doing? $7400

The end figure was 226rwkw and 674nm of toque.

Stock temp gauge not working
Won't idle

$7400 for a tune!

Still, the end result/lessons learned are worth it, espcially just crusin in a worked car, great fun :D

Should have put this thread in the garage, it would have got more attention!

Yea $13000 my bad :)

Was also wondering what was the best thing to do next to get more out of it changing tuner was the first option,
all ideas or experiences would be awesome.

Can you give us a description of the drive? Any idea of how it performs with 226kw? I'd definately be looking at a new tuner as well. Find out who's well regarded....they tend to be quicker at their work as well, and so cost less.

I guess youre restricted in power due to higher compression ratio ?? Sounds bodgy but fitting two AU head gaskets and or removing alittle from combustion chambers to lower compression..
Here's the tuners that should know what they are doing..http://www.haltech.com/aus.htm#8

$30000 on an AU.... You sell tea to the chinese or something??? You could have a ripper BF XR6T for that. It would look better, go better and drive better.

are you serious? a B series that drives better than an AU  you obviously havent spent much time behind the wheel of either car.
As for looks the AU XR series stands out from the crowd, its not just a generic taxi mock up. For about $1000 you can have a BA turbo making 280-300rwkw just like every other bloke

I admit 30k is a lot of money to spend on a car, but i think the mechanic had a bit of a lend of him with the fitting and tuning price. But now he's got a car that with a little more work from the right person will yield some impressive results.

but every tom d**k and harry has one nowadays... me included... although an au turboed may not quite have the same stock potential as the b series factory turbo's... how often do you see au turbo's on the street compared to b series turbo's??

nice colour BTW!... 8-)

I guarantee you that a 220rwkw BF XR6T (stock with flash tune...) will drive ALOT better then this guys AU on the road. I admit its unique and I would love to own it but I can't fatham him spending $30,000 on it.
