I spoke to your mate at Belmont and he told me that he was very very suprised at the sound of your Fairlane. I ended up giving him a link on this site where the sound file is. He is very chuffed! I've got a mate up the road who deals with Walker mufflers and will be going to get a couple of Lukey Ultraflows, then over to Hunter Valley steel to get some 2.5' ACMS tube, then bend it all up on my driveway and slide it up under the wagon. I wouldn't mind moving the cats a bit further back too because I heard a tough EF Fairmont on the weekend and it sounded old school. All in good time though

My wagon is purposed much the same as yours - famliy transport, towing, dog carrier and kid carrier. As I said before I will be putting in pretty much the same thing inside and cleaning up the outside to give us a nice family car for travelling. I already have 80% of an LPG setup out of my EA wagon so that will be going into the ED when the funds are available. I'll keep an eye on this thread (it is bookmarked now!) to see the "finishing" off of what is a bloody nice wagon Cheers Bruce If you're going for the EF/EL interior dash etc, it would much much easier to source all the parts as your car is a 6cyl. The V8 stuff is a bit harder to find. One word of warning regarding the lowering blocks though. The ones I bought didn't fit real good. The hole inside the block that locates onto the spring is too small and will need to opened up slightly. I didn't pay attention and after a while mine got loose and stuffed my U bolts. |

Thanks for the advice. I have seen blocks on ebay and notice that Pedders have them (although Pedders only have 2"). Will be careful when I purchase mine. Oh, and I noticed earlier in your thread that the front and rear bumpers were resprayed. Did you do that yourself or did you have it done? Nice job either way

All in good time though Sounds like you have a good plan there mate! You planning on going old school dual exhaust or running them together out the same side? Old mate should be chuffed! He did a good job  I plan on paying him a visit again soon to see if he can bend me up a custom intake pipe! But as you said, all in good time! This time of year sucks financially.

Here are the progess photos:        Here are some photos of when I dummy fitted and repaired the front EB GT front bar:   Mick, I'm going the old school pipe on each side of the rear bar for the look and sound

Excellent job on the painting, came up real nice. When the time comes for me to do some painting on mine I'll bug you for tips and paint sources
That final photo, even with the GTB bar, looks bloody nice. If I could get mine anywhere close to looking like that I would be a happy man. Cheers Bruce

MitchG911 has a set of twins which sounds really old school. They both exit out the RHS but they complete the package of his EL fairmont ghia. Sounds great up untill the intakes start singing at about 3500rpm, then you cant hear them 
I do like your car, a very nice example of the E series.

Next week, I'm getting one of Andrew's chip and programmers and will have a little play. Also, I've been in hospital for about 2 weeks with a real crook back. Big thumbs up to Macca for dropping in and paying a visit. He left me a little present for the wagon and I fitted it up today.
A trap for young players out there: never mix and match your climate control stuff between EF/ EF2/ and EL stuff because whatever the little man on the climate control screen did, the vents did the opposite. Macca kindly allowed me to swap a EF2 climate control control module that obviously spoke correctly to my vacuum solenoid block that is buried beneath my dash board. Again, thanks again Jason. |

sorry to hear about your back. i love your wagon man. im going to be doing some painting of my own shortly on the EB to give it the SVO look lol. i have always loved wagons. shame you took the GT bar off. id love that bar

I managed to sell the EB GT front bar. Funds are now going towards the re-programmable chip to make the most of my engine mods.
The back problem really sucks huggie, because it means that I can't sit down for long periods of time which incidentally meant that I forfeited a ride with Mick in his nice LWB to Sydney. Exhaust bits and pieces will start making their way here soon as well. Just need to hear some nearby LWB V8s with their hotdog exhausts before I decide on dogs or Lukey Ultraflows. Stay tuned... |

I have to say that Micks Lane sounds sooo nice with his hot dog equiped exhaust.
Oh, when you build yours, whip one up for my wagon too please, but for a six. Taaaaa. LOL BenJ
