Cheers, huggie. The back is getting better, it's just I can't go on long trips for a while. I can still do other stuff but it's the sitting down in certain chairs, seats etc that make it ache.. It will not stop me from doing more good things to either of my Falcons.
I'll give you a call Mick. I need to hear your windsor before I go and build something that I wont like.. |

Mick and I had some play time today. I got to hear his very unique system and it sounds good!! His Fairlane is a danger to its driver by causing sleepiness due to the extreme comfort of the two single seat recliners up front!!
For what it is worth, this is what a 2.5" Redback with one megaflow muffler sounds like on a windsor with pacies, headwork, compression and cam etc running on LPG: {DESCRIPTION} I'm still undecided on exhaust after today. I may even go down the hotdog path yet. I'll focus on tuning the engine first I think. Last edited by banarcus on Wed Jan 28, 2009 12:01 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

haha! Yes, was good to finally catch up and see the banarcus beast. Next time i'll do a better job on the video work
Have to admit, I love my new leather seats, they are very comfy But we'll have to do this again after you've had your tune and I piss that crappy 3:27 diff off and do my other little mods I have planned. I finally realised today how much of a pig mine is off the line campared to the T5 launch. Will have to post mine up as motivation to get the old girl launching better

Hey mate how did you lengthen the input shaft when you fitted the 6 cylinder T5? What other mods did you have to make?
I ask because Im thinking of heading down the same path when I put my V8 in.

I ask because Im thinking of heading down the same path when I put my V8 in. This all happened over 4 years ago so I'll try to remember. The 6cyl input shaft was lengthened about 30 or so millimetres. This meant that I needed to use a V8 spec steel sleeve that the thrust bearing slides along. You cannot use the 6cyl sleeve unless you machine the alloy down and press in a longer steel sleeve to the length of the longer input shaft. My input shaft was heat treated also. I don't know what method the boys used to cut and shut the shaft, could've used any I guess but one thing is for sure, this gearbox has lasted 4 years and I've towed some decent weight behind it. I DON'T drop the clutch all the time and I DON'T chirp the tyres changing into 2nd gear all the time either. There are guys here that will kill a standard spec V8 T5 in five minutes. BTW I used a Dellows alloy bellhousing and steel flywheel. Everything else is factory ie, clutch fork, spigot and thrust bearings etc. |

Oh yes an update: I'm still waiting for the J3 chip so I can begin to play with the tune to get the wagon running better. The poor idle quality is killing me with the high temperatures we're getting here lately. Waiting for the new stock so I'll keep this thread updated with my tuning exploits.

End of an era, the manual era that is. I swapped my T5 box and stuff for a BTR. Brought the BTR back home yesterday and started giving it a clean today. I also have to reverse my custom TCU wiring so that meant that the dash had to come out.
I have a quick question to anyone here who has removed and refitted a BTR before whether it be a 6cyl or V8. When I put the BTR against the engine block and tightened the bellhousing to the engine, I couldn't turn the crank by hand so that I could bolt the torque convertor to the flexplate. I ended up loosening the bellhousing a bit so that I could rotate the crank. Weird??? Any help here folks?? Anyhow, here are some pics: OLD T5 manual: EB manual pedal box and EL auto pedal box. A quick question here too. Where does the bracket for the brake switch go on the EL pedal box. I'm lost here?? Butchered interior: BTR cleaned and ready to fit: Here is an experiment with the numberplate lights, LED on the right and stock on the left: |

The clutch was getting heavy for my poor wife's arthritis knees. I decided to convert it back so that she can drive it and plus the auto will be better for towing.
