Plus a dual system is a waste on a 6cyl too mate  Nothing beats the sound of a cammed V8!

Tomorrow will be a big one, bending the rest of the system from the mufflers back to the rear bumper. I cut out the LH side exhaust hole on the rear bumper before the rains hit. I need a big shed!!! I'll be also building heatshielding brackets for the fuel stuff and hopefully weather permitting, I'll have it completed.

Under acceleration it has a slapping thong sort of sound which is typical of a unmerged system. I'll cut a H pipe for the future should I change my mind.

More photos and sound tomorrow :)

Now then Fellas, what is the point of all that V8 noise if any old 4L taxi can embarrass you at the lights, eh? LOL

In reality, I love the sound of a healthy V8, but I also love the sound of a health six. Now, don't you think that a single pipe to the diff then split into two over and out the back would sound good? And it would look sweet.

I have been around a few cars with dummy pipes before and sound wise in all honesty it makes no difference. It does look cool but.
I know the old 2V 250 running a full duel system used to sound awesome. Very much like a stockish windsor with a twin system.
Wonder if the extractors on the six could be split into two branches of three with the correct firing order to get a nice note?

Well I progressed a little bit today. I've made up the heat shielding for the fuel tank, lines etc which was the easy job. The hard job was trying to get some decent bends on the passenger side outlet. I anticipated some bending miss-haps hence the reason for buying 2.5" pipe, but even with the sand packed in, the bends where the passenger pipe has to go are pretty nasty but good enough for 4cylinders worth of flow. It's actually the size of the pipe which is proving to be the hardest to bend given the limited space. No doubts though, it will flow enough given the low revs that the car does and should look the goods too(from the outside)

I'll post some photos of my progress tonight.

Here are the photos:

Another view from the wheel arch, I made some aluminum brackets to hold it in place so it won't fly off at 100km/h:

Yeah it was unique, but not in a good way, it sounded worse than a bumble bee on roids.

Nice work there Mark, after we finish painting and move in I will take a short trip up to see her, you are doing what I wanted to do, that is if I had a V8 wagon.

Cheers macca, I have a few little things to do to it now that I have taken the thing for an extended test drive. These are:

- Lose the bodgy bracket straps ASAP and replace with some small round bar where the mufflers are supported onto the body;
- Fix up some small annoying rattles and
- Burn in the mufflers as they are pretty green.

Here is a sample of the nearly finished exhaust. Add a standard windsor 5.0L, add a cam, add some pacemakers and then add some compression. After listening to Mick's Fairlane, I wanted that clapping thong old school sound that he has but with a little more depth that mufflers give over hot dogs. So the final ingredient was a couple of supercat straight through mufflers.

Now turn up your speakers and tell me what you all think!
