Yaaaaawwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnn

Dare you wake the sleeping modder? LOL

Well, I have been plodding along gathering bits and pieces for a number of different mods.

I am well along the way on the BA headlight mod hehe I am taking a slightly different build approach, which will be detailed when it is done.

I have also acquired a 6 bolt flywheel, and my good mate snap0964 modded my spare EB Auto Pedal box as per this doco, by snap0964 of course.

{DESCRIPTION}

My pedal box will never break, bend or twist now. I also have an EB style shifter lever, and the rubber boot thing that bolts to the floor. Just a few more odds and ends to get, like a CLUTCH, a CLUTCH CABLE and CLEVIS. Nothing major lol. I do have the actual T5 lined up so that is good.

The other mod I am getting ready to do is the rear brake conversion to EL style brakes. This needs to be done before the T5 conversion, as my handbrake at the moment is useless, due to my sloppy engineering attempt at a hybrid EB/EL setup after my interior conversion. Part of the conversion plan is to drill the upper control arm brakets with a lower mounted hole. This is to correct the pinion angle rumble that I get occassionaly with the family all in the car. One of the bits I needed to acquire was XR upper control arms. The standard upper control arms foul on the diff housing as the suspension compresses.

Here are som pics of the EB XR6 arms I now have.

And the standard ones for comparison

Image

You can see the radiius cut out of the arm to clear the diff housing.

And the last thing I am working on is fitting the USC body kit. It needs a little bit of repair work before painting. As part of this I have decided to give the EB a slightly different look.

Here is a photoshop of what I will be aiming for. Some of you will hate it and some of you will love it, but the main thing is that I love it so bite me.

Image

It will certainly be unique.

Comments, criticsm and applause all welcome.

Cheers
BenJ

Wow. Talk about waking a sleeping giant and all that. Within an hour you get all sorts of interested parties poking the respective noggins out of their hidy holes for comment.

What happened to the black rear pillar? I liked that bit.

Am glad you have not gone with the look that reminded me a Commoder Berlina Vacationer circa 1988.

I've been looking for some sideskirts, but they all seem to be the "sticky outey square" variety and not the smooth sculptured and classy variety.

Figure that if I put side skirts on the car will no longer be tempted to take me 4WD'ing.

That looks great, and certainly different from the norm, which is even better

Have you thought about blackening the chrome lip as well, as its good at hiding the "small wheel syndrome".... did a chop to give you an idea, plus a couple other bits :)

Okay then. Can you guys please just humour the prick from NZ (me) and look at the end of page 4 on my thread and pass opinion on the chance the 5 speed XF gearbox with my auto EF bellhousing will fit into my EF motored EF chassis?

Click on link in SIG, or answer here. SORRY to BENJ, but BENJ is in the process of writing the MANUAL CONVERSION BIBLE (right BENJ?)

I can get this XF Box for $400 and think that'll include clutch cables and the like... Just a bit worried that it'll be $400 spent on a worthless box?!

the XF T5 will bolt straight up, tho it has the same gear ratio's as the EA box's.

i have a T5 SETUP here for anyone wanting it. 500 and its yours.

ben, whens the plans for the new paint job?

There are more than enough threads on how to do a manual conversion, so, NO, I will not be writing the BenJ bible how to.

As for the XF T5, I have no bloody idea. Oh, and the auto bellhousing only works with the auto. That much I do know.

One thing I will say is, USE NEW PARTS!!!!! Don't skimp on second hand parts like clutch cable, pressure plates etc.

Huggie, the paint will happen when it happens. I have even less budget for a while so will have to see.

BenJ

Far out.. this has taken ages to read, but has been awesome. Well documented, and pict'd.

That last photshop you did BenJ is mad. It looks like like a special edition Falcon, like an SVO but different. That interior is awesome, I can fit EF / EL trims without a single mod?
