loose wheel nuts on the putty road, not a good idea, especially when the road begs to be driven

Ride: EB1 Fairmont Ghia T5 Wagon

Location: Seven Hills, Sydney
NSW, Australia

I am back.

Had a good trip up to the Sunshine Coast, drove around for a few days, and came back home last Tuesday. Drive time was around 13 hours each way, add in a couple of hours for stops etc, trip time is around 15 hours. Total distance travelled was around the 2500km mark.

The Wagon went like a dream. Just set the cruise and let it go.

As mentioned above had the wheel nut scare, yikes, and then coming home at around 7.30pm back down the Putty Rd, sitting somewhat over the posted limit, came flying around a left hand corner to find a large dead roo fair in the middle of my lane. Took quick action to go wide and and with the car leaning more on the right side put only the left wheels over the roo. Two big bumps, a small hop from the rear, and she kept on going. No damage luckily. If however, I had hit it square on, I believe it could well have wedged under the front and made it difficult to steer or stop, resulting in a much less than happy outcome.

Fuel wise, I used about 160L of LPG each way for a approx cost of $95 each way. I am getting about 420km out of 60L of LPG on the highway giving me an approx fuel consumption figure of 7l/100k, which is pretty darn good I reckon.

Now for the dissapointing part. The DVD/GPS I had purchased and installed 2 weeks ago died. NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!!! Not sure if I can do anything about it as the seller has disappeared and now has a lot of negative feedback. Hmmmmmm.

Luckily I got home before the Sydney Dust Storms.

Here is a pic of the Wagon I took this morning. Will wash it this afternoon.

Cheers

Bugger on the GPS unit thingy matey. Get someone to have a looksee (Snap069r maybe!) and there's probably something or other burnt due to over heating...

Remember how my fugly "Aliens" stereo surround has heatsinks and fans all over the shop? There was a reason - And the reason, unfortunately, was dodgy internet sellers and their cheap stuff that over heated and died after six continuous hours of operation. Went fine for months and months when only used for hour or two at a time. But first long trip --- Caaabbbbooommphaaa.

Anyways, that gas stuff seems like a bargain....... But, no matter how many close calls, you ain't going to start sticking roo cutters out front..... Right?

lucky with the roo, man.. one hit me years back in a xb ute on my way home from work in central highlands qld..its head went under the drivers side wheel-arch(from the other side of the road; they are stupid!), its body got dragged alongside: drivers door gone, whaleside dented and printed with a roo-shaped dirt mark, all the windscreen chrome exploded, mirror gone, fur grafted onto the wheel arch.... i s##t myself, but didn't lose it(very proud!) as i was doing about 130 round the crappy qld country roads..windy and fun! but the poor roo... not much left above the chest...what a mess........at least yours was already dead.
shame about that stereo.. glad i haven't got one yet!! i guess you get what you pay for...i'll be saving up for an expensive one after all..
good to hear the cars going good and youse all are well... you must be getting good!! wanna come to qld and help me do up an el???!!!

for the DVD/GPS pull it out and have a bit of a look around for a Reset button, there might be one there, if not, perhaps discconecting/re-connecting the battery will go someway to resseting it.
