I managed to score a Whiteline Rear Wagon Swaybar, new, unopened, with fitting kit off Ebay for the princley sum of $100. Woot!!!!

I am picking it up tomorrow from Gosford.

While I am up that way, I will dropping in to visit Paulmac and then Ashcook. Banarcus, if you are home tomorrow you could swing by and meet me at Ash's. Would be good to catch up.

Other bits and pieces acquired over the last week or two include, an EL rear bumper bar $10, and some C Pillar trims $15 delivered.

I have also refitted the BA Front Bar with the intention of driving around for a couple of weeks, to make sure I can safely navigate the usual places I drive. It is a fair bit lower than the EB bar with Sprint Lip. I can't even get down the bottom part of my driveway with it on, but, am willing to put up with this. Looking around, there are quite a few NEW cars that wouldn't get down there either.

Cheers
BenJ

Hi mate, I would not advise to cut the tabs on the chip, I would de solder.

Also, can you please not post off topic questions in members build threads. There is a search function you can use, and failing that you may start a thread in the appropriate area.

Cheers

was trying to avoid the de-soldering cos these chip are s'posed to be very heat sensitive......

Yeah i imagine if you cut them you would have to solder it back on closer to the chip, being in danger of getting it even hotter. I would use some de solder tape and do a little bit at a time giving it a chance to cool.

Got the pleasure of meeting BenJ and his son as well as Paulmac today. Thanks for making the drive up guys, it was great to put some faces to the names finally. Hope you had a good drive home. Looks like the weather would have turn to s**t on your way back.

cheers!

Hey Ashcook, was a real pleasure to meet you as well, and have a yack about all things Ford Modding and other topics far and wide. The weather did turn to s**t, and we must have missed a humdinger of a storm in the Northern suburbs as there were no traffic lights from above Hornsby to the Pennant Hills Rd M2 onramp.

Thanks Buddy, will have a good read. Luckily the Swaybar even had the instructions still with it.

Scraped it going into Ashcook's driveway. Was going S L O W so no damage lol.

You need specialised soldering gear to get it off and back on. I have just left mine as it is, and tell my Rego guy what the ODO should be.

Nope, no new pics YET.

Hopefully next week.

Shimstock is the easiest and safest method for removing the Eprom - this is a thin metal strip you slip under the legs when you heat them.
Cutting: Not a good idea.
Solderwick: Not a good idea.
Both methods put too much heat for too long. Plus you need magnification to see properly and to check soldering it back on.
If you don't have the gear to do it properly, take it to a TV repair place or similar.

A SWAYBAR BENJ! Good for you. All those doubters out there about it being "too stiff", "not required", "over the top" can take a running jump. Wasn't there even some guy who thought his wagon could drive around Mount Panorama quicker without a sway bar? Do us a favour BenJ... Go drive down your favourite twisty road flat out before installing... Drive down same twisty road flat out after installing (and getting used to the difference)... Get back to us with a detailed analysis.

You'll love it. You'll think you're driving a bloody Subaru for the first few weeks...

As said a few times on my own thread - I found I was turning into corners too early when fitting (and subsequently re-fitting after LSD install)..... Even with my one tonne truck leaf springs and 2.5" lowering I was having trouble living without it.

Bloody good score BenJ. Still not up to my $9 one, but hey - $100 is worth every single cent mate. I kid you not - that's a great value for money mod...

Unless you can fit a SEDAN one to a WAGON . Apparently you can. According to this thread, it's been done... viewtopic.php?f=4&t=80226 Still waiting for the PHOTOS mind you... And when looking hard for a sway bar for all those months, I looked long and hard at many different sedan set up hoping to work out a way to improvise. There must be one hell of a lot of welding in this wagons a*** end to get a sedan bar anywhere close to fitting.

Thanks Fiend.

I am looking forward to it. I hope to have it in before our annual cruise to Bathurst on the 17th :D

As for a Sedan one fitting, Snap said he had tried and that it fouled on the shocks, hence him purchasing a Whiteline bar. I am going to believe the tried, trusted and talented Snap.

Cheers
BenJ
