Saturday was My Birthday!!!

And I asked my fabulous family for only one thing. A new trolley jack.

My previous one, which I was given on my 21st, many years ago, died earlier in the year, and I have been struggling to do things with just the scissor jack. Which really sucks.

So my wife, son and daughter pooled there $$$$ and I ended up with this.

This is a Trade Quip Hydraulic Floor Jack, and has a low profile 105mm min height and goes up to 510mm high. The jack has a 2T capacity and usese dual hydraulic rams, and the handle is also the release mechanism. It is very sturdy, but bloody heavy at 51kg.

So I made good use of it yesterday, and used it to lift up the back of the Wagon so I could replace the centre bump stop over the pinion.

I had been getting a good loud squeak when carrying a few people and dogs. This is why.

Image

If you look closely, you can see where the pinion dust cover had been chewing into the bump stop. LOL, the joys of having a lowered wagon.

When I bolted in the replacement bump stop, I turned it 180 degrees, which gained me 10mm away from the pinion, so hopefully, this issue won't happen again.

Cheers
Old Man BenJ

That's a sexy looking jack, should make light work of jobs you need a jack for now. :D

That diff bump stop - never seen one chewed out like that, usually the rubber get's too soft. I have one in my EB Ghia, otherwise the tailshaft hits the floor. I have got 18mths out of my current one, and a similar amount of time out of the previous one, but i do a lot of towing, big heavy loads....

Cheers

A belated Happy Birthday Ben, I am glad you got something nice from the family. I have a jack that is less than adequate and I also use the standard Ford jack. :D

I might have to invest in one of them, I can't depend on MY Family to do same.

Hi, i like the look of the front with the BA parts. would love to do what ya seen doing with parts swap .... but with 5 ea sedans & 2 ea/eb wagons it looks like i'll be using those parts up.

like you Benj i bought a wagon [93 off ebay] on gas [in date too!] however the motor appears to have a leak around the balancer :( so i will swap the motor/box out of the '88 [3.9/5sp $290 approx] & put orig motor/box aside. oh '88 came with a lsd :P ratio 2.92 [wouldnt mind the sedan lsd tho .. 3.23]

keep up the good work & the pics :D

it might 'motorvate' me

Actually, my wagon has the 3.23 LSD from factory as it is a Ghia.

Does your mate want to part with his remaining wheels?

Cheers

Boxcar Ghias pretty much all had 3.23 LSDs!

Just XR's that had 3.45s.

The Prowlers are terrible for cracking.... I imagine alot of people end up with three wheels.

Must be out of an XR6 Wagon.

That will make it more fun to drive.
