Attachment: thermostat cover.jpg yes i did grab the photo off this thread but i couldnt find any info on it another quick question do you think putting a ef/el engine belt cover on a ed engine is a worthwhile mod cheers bear You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

They are a direct swap for the ED item, and recommended if you are going to do the Thermo Fan Mod. For the belt cover the Pwr Steering Pump spacing from the head is different, and you will need to make up a mounting bracket for the other side, where the cover would normally attach to the inside thermo housing bolt. Cheers BenJ

Cheers for the info Ben, I'm 95% through doing the thermo fan mod only thing that needs doing is install thermatic switch and connect up the accesories power in wire for the thermatic switch and then it's all done and I will finally have pics of the wagon in my build thread

Yes, Yes, I am still alive.
Not much to report really. I had to replace the two front tyres as they were getting rather worn. I ended up getting 234/45/17 Nexen 3000s for $110 each fitted and balanced. I am quite happy with their grip in both the wet and dry and they are much quieter than the old crap LingLongs. I also had the bright idea to do a bit of a rim swap while the new tyres were being fitted. I had another 'spare' rim that matches the current odd rim and I had one of the new tyres fitted to it, so I now have different rims on the left and right sides of the car. This means I now have two of the CSA Prowlers bare for me to work on and paint. The rim on the left has had the paint stripped on the outer rim between the spokes, and then sanded and polished. The rim on the right is only had paint stripper applied to it. Left rim ready to be masked and painted. Right rim waiting for attention - has now been started. ******************************************************************** I did take the wagon to a dyno day recently, and decided to leave it in street trim, with all the LPG gear in place etc. On Petrol it made 121rwkw and on LPG it made 107rwkw. I am dissappointed with the result as I was hoping for over 130rwkw, seeing as it has a 1673 cam, and exhaust etc. However, the IMPCO LPG mixer is a rather large restriction, and I have been advised that I could easily gain over 10rwkw if it is removed. I have some ideas on how to achieve that and am looking seriously at a Vapour Injection kit. Cheers BenJ

Glad to hear that you like the Nexen 3000 tyres. I have them on my ute, and I am very happy with them. I will be using them on the wagon, once I find a nice set of 17's.
Can't wait to see how the prowlers come out with the new paint, may even inspire me to do mine. But I doubt it.

Finding time after work is not that easy, and there is not much daylight left at the end of the day either. ashcook wrote: Hey BenJ, What about replacing the Impco you have with another Impco, but a 425. I think we've talked about that before but it could be cheaper and only require modifying what you already have. How are the door handles going too? Ash Hey Ash I did look long and hard at a 425 option, but if I add up the dollars to buy a new one, plus the parts to run it in an inline capacity, it comes quite close to the cost of the Gas Injection Kit on Ebay. Snap has been running that kit on his car for a few months now, and it really does do a good job. You can change the tune easily with a laptop, and gives noticeable improvements in economy and power on LPG, and by no longer having the mixer in the intake provides no restriction while running on Petrol. No further progress on the door handles. Need to get motivated!!!!! Cheers BenJ

oh yeah, where originally someone tried it (i know it wasnt you or maybe it was) and had to chop a bit off due to the window as with the AU, the doors then poke out where the handle is and the E-series are flat
