oh yeah, where originally someone tried it (i know it wasnt you or maybe it was) and had to chop a bit off due to the window as with the AU, the doors then poke out where the handle is and the E-series are flat

That was me.

I really need to get into some bodywork on that door. I guess I could do some bog mixing in the garage at night, but it gets too cold, and the bog doesn't want to go off.

I originally had 16's on the wagon, but have had the 17's (CSA Prowlers) on for around 12 months. The 16's had a tiny bit softer ride on small bumps, but the 17's have better turn in.

The 17's look better too.

Cheers

17's are a better all rounder cause 18's have hardly any rubber left so its gonna be a rough ride, 16's make you feel as though the tyre is going to come away from the rim while turning a hard corner

Back to BenJ's thread........

I saw those. What offset do they have? Don't forget that E Series have an offset of +6 and AU onwards have an offset of +35. I only mention this as those wheels look quite modern.

Cheers

Actually, you can get Prowlers new now in the +36 offset, but not to suit E Series +6 offset. If you want to fit AU onwards wheels to an E Series you need to use Hub Adapters.

The injected gas is the way to go if it will supply enough power to say go from idle to 3500 rpm, then you can cruise around on LPG & if you wanna get up it, switch over to petrol & get up it.

Cheers

I mentioned a few pages ago, that I have now installed XG Ute Leaf Springs in the back of the wagon, along with a DIY lowering job.

I was very lucky to source the Ute Leaf Springs as a freebie from 'bradley4567' (Cheers Mate).

In addition I had another set of std Wagon Leaf Springs, and used both sets to make one new set.

I disassembled the Wagon Spring Pack, and used the smallest leaf from the bottom, and then placed it upside down on the top of the Ute Spring Pack. The Ute Spring Pack had a small cut down leaf as a spacer on the bottom. I moved it to the top to make a small 'lowering block'. I then used large clamps, and a long High Tension bolt to compress the leaves together.

Image

I then cut down the spare leaves from the Wagon Spring Pack to make more spacers, and used them as additional 'lowering blocks'. The reverse spring mod lowered the Ute Spring Pack approx 1.25" and the spacers added another 1". My old lowering blocks were 2.5" so the rear now sits approx 1/4" higher than before.

I installed the leaf pack, and drove around with them for a couple of weeks. This morning I finally got around to attacking them with a drill and wire brush, and sprayed on a quick coat of Gloss Black Engine Enamel to give them that refurbished look.

Before being cleaned up.

After.

This is an excellent mod for you Wagon Lovers out there. I wanted the ride height to look good, but it still needed to be practical. I can now carry four adults, with two large dogs, plus provisions for the dogs including a large dog crate etc, and I have not bottomed it out since installing these springs. I have also noted that the tailshaft has not hit the floor once, which was quite an issue before.

In addition, there are improvements in cornering when empty and the Wagon feels more secure and confident in all conditions now. I can also confirm a distinct lack of axle tramp under, ahh, spirited driving. The lowering blocks were really bad for this.

Cheers
BenJ
