geeze im forum hopping here lol posted in each thread all about something different from other peoples replies.
im keen to see what you can work out ben. as id love to drop a barra turbo motor into the lane but keep my manifold as it caters from everything from X series 250 crossflow to the barra motor. if you can slot it in reasonably easy then i will definitely look into this in the near future |

Well done BenJ , I wont enter the V8/I6 debate as you know my preference, but the thought of a turbo Barra 6 / Typhoon engine in my NF aint the worst thought I've ever had, will be following keenly as usual!

I like your thinking BenJ! At least you have a "testbed" to play with before you have to go live. I can tell you it's great to have such a thing around.
My g/f's bro & i have been playing with handbrake cables, brake lines & so on in a rustier than a pile of rust LH Torana. Why? Because it has a 308, aussie 4spd with hydraulic clutch & a VL disc brake diff modified to fit the torry. We have been working out the sizes for the brakes, and also working out about fitting VL commodore disc's up front too, along with a few other little body mods that you don't want to mess up doing on a good shell! We can cut, grind, bash & drill the shell any way we like to make things fit, then work on making it look pretty once we know it can fit. Then, we just move the finished product into his good rust free torana. Keep up the good work dude! ToranaGuy

BA DOHC 3 - A/C Brackets 1 + Wiring.
Made a trip to the wreckers on the weekend. Picked up a BA Belt Tensioner an Pulley, BA A/C pump mounting bracket, BA BBM Switch and the wiring loom from the PCM and engine to the body. Then I spent a few hours messing around having a go at fabricating some adaptor plates to allow the EF-EL A/C pump to bolt up. I used the spring saddle I had left over from the Leaf Spring conversion and cut out the sides to leave me with some suitable flat plates. I am quite pleased with how far I got. PICS!!!! Engine mounted on the Engine Stand BA A/C Pump with Adaptor Plates Belt Tensioner Wiring Loom - to be extensively modded Cheers BenJ

BA DOHC 4 - Power Steering Bracket 1
Got home from work yesterday at 3.30pm, and got stuck in to more bracket fabricating. Power Steering Pump this time. Using the top plate left over from the leaf spring shackle, I used mans favourite tool, (shed tool, not bed tool LOL) and used the angle grinder and a 1mm cutting disk to shape up the bracket. A bit of measuring, a few strokes of the . . . . drill press, and a bit of tidying up with the bench grinder I had a nice bracket. I dug around in my spare bolt bucket and was ready for the final fit. Not to shabby I reckon. Power Steering Pump bolted up. Looking Good! Lines up beautifully with the exisiting pulleys. Threw on a spare serp belt for a look. BUGGER!!!!!! The inside edge of the belt just touches the top sloping edge of the timing cover LOL. Not too hard to fix. I will use the first bracket as a template for the new one, and will lower the pump mount holes by 10mm. That should still give the bottom of the pump enough clearance above the water pump for a hose and clamp to fit nicely. Once that is done, I will need to make up a bracket for the back of the pump. I have to say, that this design and fabricating stuff is quite satisfying work. Cheers BenJ

BenJ,
Very nice work dude! It is satisfying when it all starts coming together, and even more so when you finally have it running & can say I did that, making modified brackets to make it all work! Cheers ToranaGuy

use a B series pump and modify the hose?
why fabricate a bracket that doesnt need it |

The primary reason for making the power steering pump bracket is because I don't have a BA Power Steering Pump, but have a couple of spare E Series ones.
Ash, good thing you mentioned the bonnet clearance for the p/s pump. I will have to check into that. Cheers BenJ
