Im not seeing any issue with the injector placement.
Geez mine are mounted sideways and works fine. They are basically just a solenoid.

BA DOHC 30.3 - Block Painted

I got some time to strip all the parts from the block and go over it with wire brushes mounted on my drill.

Thanks to Ford and their cost savings initiatives, this is what the block looked like.
Image

After cleaning the bulk of the surface rust of, asking up all the alloy parts and hitting it with gloss black engine enamel this is the final result.

While most of this will never be seen with the manifolds on when in the car, I will be happier knowing it has been done.

Cheers
BenJ

Nice, you should also consider giving the sump a clean as well, it seems to have some milky white corrosion on it and would look heaps better if cleaned. My suggestion, Mr Muscle and a Karcher are your friends.

That sump is not staying on the engine. I have the turbo sump ready for a bit of love and care in the garage. I have to fabricate an oil drain port cover and give it a good clean.

The wagon does not have any blue in at all, so that wouldn't work.
